I'm thinking a mix of classics and must-haves, with a lot of other ones that would just be fun to listen to. I figured record stores would be a good start, I've mostly just been doing Amazon for now. Didn't even think of eBay though.
If you are going to the Reckless on Milwaukee, Dusty Groove is very close and also a great shop.

    Twist and Shout.

I also like Wax Trax. Better selection at T&S.

I've never been to independent or Angelo's

Dunno if Angelo's is even still around. The Aurora location was still there the last time I visited, but that's 2-3 years ago now.

Having Twist & Shout right next door to Tattered Cover is dangerous. I miss Tattered Cover's old, giant, multi-story location.

So, I wasn't overly impressed with the sonics on this one. Not terrible, but it sounds a bit muddy. I'm not sure if it stuck out to me more because I listened to it back to back with Bellman's remaster of Clapton's 'From the Cradle' (which sounds absolutely amazing.)

Performance-wise, I think it's great but I was hoping for a bit more sonically. Even though Jack White is all about analog I have to assume this was recorded digitally being a live album of course, but that shouldn't be a hindrance if it's mixed and mastered well (see: Live Trax series.) With just a 2-person band I'd like to hear a bit more clarity and separation.

Again, not awful by any means but, didn't blow me away. For a $15 purchase for a double LP still worth it IMO, if I had paid $30+ for it I'd be disappointed.

So from the Steve Hoffman forums the Neil Young - Decade from RSD was done by Chris Bellman and hopefully the same for the upcoming release. http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/thread...and-lp.672743/

Does Chris Bellman sleep? This guy is doing EVERYTHING these days it seems. Not complaining, he's amazing and I know when I see that CB in the deadwax of an album that it's basically guaranteed to sound fantastic - I'm just curious as to how much time it takes on average to do a full remaster and cut the lacquer on an album.

Why do people advertise "low number" on eBay listings for vinyl? Is this supposed to do something I'm not aware of?

    Example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-In-Shrin...sAAOSw42JZGgRK

I think, for whatever reason, people who collect these numbered editions sometimes want a 'low number' and some people (crazies, if you ask me ) are even willing to pay more for a lower number in the run even though obviously there's no difference between getting # 0050 or #1354.

Yeah some people get excited for low number prints. I'm not quite sure. I've heard that sometimes the lower number in a run has a better production quality than a later one. Not sure if that's true or not but have heard it before.

Is the number truly representative of it's place in the run? I always assumed they randomly numbered them afterwards for uniqueness.

I always figured this as well - I didn't think that # 0001 meant that it was actually the first discs off the press, especially in the case of a multi-disc set

Unless they're hand numbered, I would assume they have a machine that just does that for them.

Yeah unless they specify, no real way to tell.

Classic Records would sell the first 50 copies of the stamper through their website, so if you wanted closest to the stamper you could do it.

Glad its not just me. I didnt want to bias you going in, but I thought everything sounded just a little dead, or maybe flat. No pop to the sonics. Great performances but the sound just doesnt get me going, which is strange because I have crappy quality MP3s of fans tapes of White Stripes that do more for me than that LP. Weird one, I've heard other people rave about it and I was sort of blah.

"No pop" is dead on. It just doesn't have the lively feel to match the actual performances, which are great.

Anyone here have the new OKNOTOK Radiohead reissue? I have the standard 2008 Capitol 2xLP OK Computer so thinking of grabbing this just for the bonus material but $40 is a lot for that imo if there's no improvement on the standard issue vinyl. Any thoughts?

Cost for each? I've been wanting to add EU '72 v2 for a while but don't really know what a fair price is when I come across them

I believe some are popping up in local stores. Someone posted on reddit about getting a blue copy from a store in Canada

I'm in the same spot on this.

I picked up all of the Radiohead back catalog on vinyl when Capitol flooded the market with the first six LPs in 2008, so I'm like, "Do I really need this?"

    62 for Europe 72 vol 2
65 for Two from the vault

Both of those numbers include shipping. From discogs. I am happy with the price as these are 4 lp sets

Black LT 1 listed on ebay for $275. Might be worth a shot trying to message and negotiate with them for anyone looking for one

Played it 3 times tonight, I think it's excellent.

Nirvana's In Utero (20th Anniversary 3LP DMM) is on Amazon for $38.62; a real nice deal (think it retails above $50)

I didn't want to start a new thread and I didn't know where else to ask this, where is the Red Rocks vinyl being discussed? I can't find a thread about it anywhere on the site, but I have to believe one exists. With people having a chance to listen to it I was curious to know what the feedback has been about it.
