Like I've said in this thread, I've seen some shows, know a lot of the references, but just like Star Wars that's only because it's so engrained in pop culture.

It's funny, but not fucking mind blowing like people make it out to be.
It honestly blows my mind that people actually liked Lost past season 3 and actually liked the finale.

The office was great for the first few seasons. Than it became way too sappy with Jim and Pam.

In terms of most overrated show that Ants seem to like, that goes to Scrubs. What an awful piece of shit.

I was a tad too young to fully get it when it first aired, though I remember watching it occasionally.

Watched a few episodes in college and enjoyed them, so I watched it all in order. I've since done that a second time, and seen most episodes 5+ more times randomly on TV over the years. Only show I've watched more than once or twice.

Nobody touches on social subtleties nearly as well as they do.

exactly. and that's why it stands up to the test of time. I mean, it CLEARLY takes place in the 90's, there's no denying that when you watch it, but the situations they complain about and find themselves in happen to this day

Seen almost all of Seinfeld but can't say definitively that I've seen every single one.

Also, The Office was great until Michael left, after that, huge nosedive.

There's a George Bonanza here to see you...

When I'm driving somewhere that's a few hours drive and hit the point where I've got the GPS' ETA down by over 15 mins from where it started I almost always comment out loud "we're making incredible time here".

Also always comment about Costanza spots when I get the sweetest parking spot at wherever I'm parking.

Can't say for sure I've seen all of them, but definitely over 90%. Great show.

I've watched every episode countless times. It's just such a great show. Off the top of my head I can't think of a tv show I enjoy more that I can go back to repeatedly and not tire of it.

Never could get into The Office. I was a huge fan of the original UK version and the US version just never lived up to that standard for me.

I do the same. Also, any time I feel like my wife has shorted me I say, "You screwed me again, Costanza." She's also a fan, so it works.

Someone posted this on Facebook this weekend, Seinfeld episodes that wouldn't work today:

    https://adorablycaffeinated.wordpres...nt-work-today/

I guess younger kids watching today would be like, why didn't they just use Yelp?

Count me in as someone who says I got a "George Costanza" spot if we get close to the entry of our destination. Our family has even abbreviated it the "GC spot".

agree with others that have said it holds up today. I watched the show when I was a kid, and last Fall decided to do a full re-watch of every episode. I'm just about done with season 8. It's honestly pretty amazing how well it holds up. Easily one of the best shows ever.

Im with you on Lost. I was 100% invested through the first two seasons. I would read up on theories, listen to podcasts about it etc, then the third season happened and I had no fucking clue what was going on and just stopped watching and never went back.

Disagree soooo much on both of these. The Office is the best cable tv show ever IMO, even with the dropoff after michael left.

    Also, Scrubs is incredible.

Like Fawlty Towers and The Young Ones it aced what it tried to do and got out of there before it got stale.

    Fawlty Towers - 12 episodes
The Young Ones - 12 episodes
    The Office - 12 episodes + 2 xmas specials
    Extras - 12 episodes + xmas special

Extras is absolutely hilarious and brilliant also but pushed I'd give a nod to The Office overall.

Every sitcom in the 90's had a laugh track. Can't really factor that in. The comedy they squeezed out of social situations and pet peeves were amazing. I wouldn't say genius, it was too simple... but the cast and directing of the episodes were near perfect.

Same goes for the office. The writers were amazing and the cast was perfect for what they needed to accomplish.

Both were amazing. Both are timeless. Both are different in their own way but as far as multi-season shows, I think these two are at the top of the list.

Also, I think both are an acquired taste, Seinfeld a bit more. The Office was built on dry humor and the exact opposite of "politically correct" corporate america. Seinfeld... ehhh you need to be somewhat neurotic for the show to finally click with you. Hard for the younger careless crowd.

The Jim and Pam story had to happy at some point. Personally I think Michael left at the perfect time and the show didn't have many slumps with him there. Went through an expected decline but I think James Spader was the perfect twist to the end of the show. Will Ferrell ruined a couple episodes all by himself. He was the worst thing that ever happened to that show. Thank god it was short lived.

not sure if that's true, actually. Seinfeld used a live studio audience.

i don't know how often a laugh track was used, if at all, by Seinfeld or other 90's sitcoms. they may have thrown in some laugh tracking in editing, but the episodes were filmed in front of live people.
