I wasn't keen on a TV series in between the films anyway. Not unless it was on HBO...

Hopefully WB will give the green light to Howard on condition that he let Darabont direct and all are done as full-length movies.
I'd also be happy with Del Toro or Peter Jackson doing this.

Re: Stephen King's 'The Dark Tower' series

So I think it's farther along than ever now with shooting scheduled and a prelim release date. Here's some info for those not following it that closely:

    EW Article

    King's Tweet

    Elba Tweet

    McConaughey Tweet

Personally I'm really disappointed that the the Howard film+show concept wasn't done (with him directing) but understand that there's a TON of material that I, as a fan want to sit through but most non-obsessed would find it tedious.

I like the director and the casting so far albeit the obvious story/character changes necessary. Idriss is going to crush Roland and it's going to be fantastic to see and hear him on screen.

Love the casting. Glad MM isn't Roland. I think he's a perfect Flagg.

    I like Elba as Roland.

I'd bet it's Susan Delgado, given they're jumping around The Dark Tower universe and not following the order of the books.

I like her in Vikings a lot.

I am not familiar with the person in this pic from someone's pin but can see how Roland would be into her, lol - https://www.pinterest.com/pin/262264378272849573/

Well she certainly looks that part... not sure how I'd feel about their jumping into Wizard and Glass right away though. I know it's set at the beginning of Roland's timeline, but I don't think I would have appreciated that book enough without knowing Roland as an adult first.

My guess is that she is Gabrielle Deschain - the actress - while admittedly gorgeous - is nearly 40. Although if the changes to the source material are as drastic as I think they could be, maybe all bets are off.

Not sure when this is supposed to be coming out proper, but the first trailer for this has leaked.

    https://vid.me/MQG8

I was kind of assuming the first thing they put out for this would be much more of a teaser nature, just a more atmospheric sorta thing, but nope this is a full 2 minutes and shows lots of different things. It's in pretty good quality, but just has like "property of Columbia/sony studios" stamped at the bottom, that sort of thing.

Makes me wish I could like instantly read all 8 novels in the next couple months.

Idris Elba is so fucking awesome.

I've read that the movie is going to be more companion-ish to the books rather than follow them chronologically/by canon.
