The Garth concert was I went to a couple years ago was one of my more disappointing concert experiences. It wasn't a bad show by any means, but leading up to it everyone I knew who had seen him before built it up so much that I went into the concert expecting something Springsteen-esque. Garth played a lot of songs I really enjoy and bantered well with the crowed, but he ran around the stage quite a bit and often struggled to get through songs because he was out of shape.

Speaking of Garths drummer, Mike Palmer, he's an incredible guy. I reached out to Garths manager asking to check out his drum kit ahead of the show last year in Bossier City. Didn't happen but still cool.

Before the show day arrived,i got a package in the mail from Mike. It was a signed drum head from the Vegas shows, and a nice personal note.

We were front row behind the stage for the show. I took a picture of the drum head and held it out when Mike does his run around the stage. He saw it, called me out by name, and had me come down and talk to him. Total class guy and was an incredible concert moment!

And he just announced 20 minutes ago in Houston that he's opening AND closing the 2018 Houston Rodeo season.

The only rodeo I've ever been to was in the mountains of NY. While fun, I have to imagine it's far from the rodeo experience in TX

At the show in Newark, NJ this Sunday the power went out for the entire arena during Mitch Rossell's second song. Kind of a bummer, I really enjoyed his act the previous times I've seen him but then Garth brought Mitch out midset to duet Ask Me How I Know which just went #1 last week. Mitch was obviously overwhelmed but was up to the task. Garth kept having to convince Mitch to go up to the mic and just ceded the entire stage and audience to him. Was so damn fucking cool.
