There's a song that is heard in the 'Scenes from Big Whiskey' DVD at 16:16 where Tim is laying down a guitar part and after he nails it they're all saying how it was the first time he heard it and he's "freakishly" good.

What song is this? For some reason it isn't on 'Little Red Bird' and I've never heard it discussed. It sounds awesome. I'd love to hear a full version.

wait, I'm almost positive you can hear the song in the background and it's a song we have minus the vox. I'll have to watch it again, but I could have sworn when I saw that I was thinking what song it was.

I thought it might have been an alternate ending to spaceman cause it sounds like the same key, or i'm brainwashed because that song is earlier in the video

There is a similar scene that is Spaceman, but this is not that one. I don't think that song is out there.

Definitely not Spaceman.

I also realized there is no clip of this song with any vocals on it anywhere. Maybe they recorded everything and Dave never ended up laying down vocals/lyrics?

I would love to see this on the iTunes pass, but I doubt it.

This is slightly off-topic, but at about 13:35 of the 'Scenes from Big Whiskey' Dave is messing around with Alligator Pie and plays a verse that's not on the album version. Is there any info or story behind it? Cause I absolutely love it. AP is a great song, but I think I like this 'extra' verse better than any on the studio cut.

Same here that sounds really badass, I have no idea why they decided to cut that out.

I think I know which part of the video you're talking about - and you're right about what Tim's playing there...but I think the OP is talking about a different section of the video. I can see the two parts of the video in my head. The one you're talking about has Tim on the lefthand side of the screen, and the part the OP is talking about has Tim on the righthand side of the screen near the couch...I think he had a music stand in front of him....and Dave is near the console which is on the lefthand side of the screen.

That is the original music for what was going to be each verse. He eventually just switched it so that the "riff" part is the verse instead of just that one chord. If you notice, Dave is in the middle of writing the song out so it wasn't finished at that point.

Okay, you're right. There was a post in-between that threw me off, because Dave had said something about how amazed they were that Tim got the Spaceman part the first time. that's what i was thinking of because somebody posted a quote that was similar. I'll have to re-watch and see what this part was, because i don't remember it.

if you have an iphone / itouch and you watch the boyd or carter, maybe even jeffrey haha vids i cant remember on the exclusive videos section of the dmb app, theres more a what i believe is this song! just fyi

i dont think its just an unfinished jam, but cavallo was right there, and there seemed to be all the other instruments in the background, and they needed tim to just lay down that part to complete it, but i have no idea wat goes on in studios, so i could be wrong

If you listen closely, it sounds exactly like the progression that's played in the clip they show of the 2006 sessions, them jamming to some unknown song.

wouldda been awsome if it was like an intro to it and then it went into the song.
