Soprano sax for me. But I also really love his bari work, especially on the Crash album.

It's not listed here, but during Bartender on 6.14.08, he played the intro and outro on oboe and it sounded fantastic.

To those that know sax. In LWS Grey Street, is he switching saxes during those lines or is that just a series of different notes on the same instrument?

Around like 2:50ish in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKFnkqHDF8s

    What was LeRoi's best instrument?

He was a badass on the bari but I'd say his best work came on the tenor. His whistles and soprano are worth noting, but I dont think it's a secret that his tenor landed him the gig and most of his great great solos/moments during his time with the band

God damn. Current Grey Street is just an embarrassment comparatively.

baritone and soprano. the baritone is so nice on two step and crash's studio takes. but i voted soprano. LeRoi had that delicate touch that a soprano requires (at least i'm guessing that is the case).

    see lover lay down studio.

I know, it's horrible. Especially when you listen to live versions from 2000, they sound so much better than the way it's played now.

Listen to LT3 and then a modern version. It's night and day.

Thanks. The switching was always one of my favorite parts of this song/recording.
