So, what are everyone's thoughts on this....Did Don really get offered the job, but Sterling doesn't remember because he was drunk, or did he con his way into the job (never really was offered the position)? There's some debate on this, and I don't know if there is an actual answer or not.
Never offered the job - I am convinced

Yeah, I agree with this. It does fit in with his past. I was skeptical on what actually happened, but now that I think about it more I think he did lie his way into that job.

And he has proven to be very good at the ad biz more often than not, but he definitely lied to get the initial shot. Really, one of the more complicated & intriguing characters possibly in TV history

Finally got to watch Sunday's episode from iTunes - moved to a new apartment, no cable yet, sadly. I definitely agree with those of you who think Roger never offered Don the job... I thought it implied he sort of took advantage of Roger's drunkenness and tricked him. I liked the flashbacks and thought that was the redeeming part of this episode.

The whole "forgetting Saturday" bit was a little odd and not very believable. Also, the new art director and his story seemed out of nowhere... not sure where that is headed.

    Re: Mad Men

Just an amazing episode. Just wow.

It really reminds me that a big chunk of T.V. these days is VASTLY superior the films being released.

Don & Peggy's arguments are always the best. Peggy is really the only person on the show that can get in Don's face, and they can equally go back and forth. They're both so similar that it's so great to see them argue.

The very ending with the hand-hold was a great "passing of the torch" moment. Peggy, seemingly, is now that someone who Don can really be himself with. I was almost waiting for him to say his real name is Dick.

And yes, to echo other people, Don & Peggy's performances should lock them in for Emmy noms, if not the win. And I'm predicting right now that this episode wins next year's Emmy for writing......unless of course there's a better Mad Man episode this season.

Hamm is going to be very lucky next year at the Emmys. Cranston can't be nominated since Breaking Bad will miss the cutoff date for the new season.

    The year was 1948....no.....32.

John Hamm was fantastic in that episode. He did a great job with the telephone call scene.
