Isn't "Our Song" the only song that she wrote by herself on her first album?

BEP's epic singles chart run I think could help them.

It's sad too, because while No Line was very good, it doesn't deserve to win; oh, but it will.

Also Old Dirt Hill. I know it's not everyone's favorite on these boards but like So Right, I think it really works as a radio single.

#41 nor Say Goodbye would have done well AT ALL as a single.

WOuld it not have been better to put something like Dream Girl out first or even You Might Die Trying (which is the one that has lasted) or even Bayou. So Right should have been a single. Grey Street should have gone first not Where Are You Going. Stay would have been better first than DDTW. So Much instead of Too Much.

I don't know. I am puzzled by singles that the lable releases. And I think it must impact things, at least to potential new fans.

This albums singles should have been/should be: SHake Me Like A Monkey, Why I am, You And Me. I think that would have been far better.
Where Are You Going was a cross promotional single, both promoting Busted Stuff AND Mr. Deeds.

Dreamgirl did poorly as a single for a reason, YMDT would have been miserable as a single as well (I love BOTH songs by the way). DDTW was the perfect first single for BTCS; I don't think Grey Street should have been a single at all. Crash didn't really have a very good first single on the entire album.

LOL. I didn't think I'd ever read so much praise for taylor swift on a dmb site. I think she makes simple pop, can someone please explain to me why she should win album of the year and is one of the best songwriters in the industry right now?

The Grammy awards people tend to eat this up when it comes to album of the year.

Too Much got quite a bit of airplay in my market back in the day. It was in the regular rotation as was So Much To Say. Then Crash was on every five minutes.

When you figure out how to write hits like she does, get back to me. "Simple pop" is far easier said than done. She is outstanding at turning a phrase. Her songs are almost always perfectly balanced in terms of composition. They all have strong direction through solid and clear beginning, middle and ends. It is extremely satisfying music to listen to because it's so well done. It's not avant garde "heady" stuff, it's pop music, and it's pop music at its best. On top of that, her delivery is as good as it gets. She sells her songs as a performer like few can. She sells them like a superstar.

I agree. She does exactly what needs to be done to make great pop country music and she does it well.

This is a good point. Good (perhaps even simple) pop music does not necessarily equal easy to write or perform.

Ah yes, but yours did the same to me only a year before. So now we're even. Set the rubber match for next May into June.

I'm not holding my breath. We've lost too much firepower this summer and it's going to be tough to find guys at this point to help out. I'm thinking next year is a "growth" year for us. I'll be happy if we make it to the conference finals but I'm not setting my expectations up for a Cup run at this point. My money's on Chicago (if Huet can handle being #1) out of the West and I'll be watching the Caps to see what deals they make throughout the season to get stronger. I think it'll be Pens or Caps but I think it could be the Caps year if they make the right moves. It's tough to repeat. Trust me, we know all too well now in Detroit. We just didn't have the energy to get through all the injuries.

See, "my day" I believe I was 5 or 6 at the time. I just can't imagine why Too Much would do well nationally on top 40 radio. Oh well.

Seems like an odd thing to do, just on the off shot that it doesn't get it (I'm VERY well aware that it will.)

Also, what does the Grammy Final 5 for albums look like?

She has IMMENSE talent that is only going to continue to expand as she grows in age and artistry and has more diverse experiences. Hell, she wrote "Our Song," an incredibly potent song done via country or straight pop (and a song that would go #1 either way really) when she was 13.

    She's the real thing.
    Ummm...she can't sing.

I give her 2 more albums before people bore of her teenage romanticism. She'll grow up and it won't be as cute/appealing anymore.

Also, what does the Grammy Final 5 for albums look like?
The reason they are doing it is just because of that fact, it will go platinum. Remember, platinum means albums SHIPPED not sold. The album is already almost 800K.

Grammy nominations will not be announced until around thanksgiving time. DMB still has a shot. August 31 is the cutoff date for albums to be considered. Nothing really that big is coming out the rest of the month, so DMB may get it. They will get a few nominations in the rock fields most likely. I'd say 90% chance they get 2 or more nominations

    Ummm...she can.

And she will be a Country Star for as long as she wants to be. Most loyal genre fanbase EVER.

I honestly wouldn't rule Funny getting a Song of the Year nom (Not Record of the Year, mind you) as well.
