There are quite a few courses in the area. Where exactly are you staying? Are you looking to stay below a certain dollar amount for greens fees?

The truth is this is all being exaggerated on this thread.

It's just that the first time you go it is absolutely bizarre that there is a line weaving through the parking lot to get into the gate. It realistically takes 'only' 10-15 minutes, but that is a lot when you are trying to get into a show.

Once you get your ticket scanned and are inside, the walk, as whodat said, is 'only' .25 miles but, again, it is bizarre you have to walk a quarter of a mile to the venue AFTER you walk through the gate.

Figured there were a bunch... Currently no hotel booked, but looking to stay in the Irvine area.

I'd say anything under $60 is ideal.

Yeah, that definitely would be a little confusing had I not known.

Hey everyone, I found a cheap ticket to fly out to LAX for the Irvine show since they are not playing in Denver, so I booked it right away since I didn't want to miss out if they are on hiatus next year....the problem is my friend bailed on me so at this point I am looking for one ticket and possibly some cool people to chill with? I am not a weirdo lol you can look me up on Facebook or something!, I met some cool people this way last year when none of my friends wanted to go the second night, anyway let me know!

    Show is officially sold out.

Meanwhile, Chula can't sell out the pavillion.

Always an interesting dynamic in So-cal.

No one wants to drive from LA to Chula Vista on a Friday.

I wonder when they'll update that on the bands official site.

I'm always surprised by this too. Chula is a much bigger venue, but still. I guess people don't want to make the drive down that far south on a Friday evening.

Chula is a much better venue than Irvine too.

Not denying distance / day of the week doesn't fall into Irvine's favor, but the way Irvine sells out and Chula stands more than half empty always feels unbalanced.

    I couldn't agree more.

I also think Irvine being so corporate heavy, a lot of the tickets are swallowed up that way. Then public on-sale comes and cleans out the rest.

If you look at Google Maps satellite view, Irvine's lawn is sliced in half essentially. I never realized that in my years going to the shows but it's glaring from a bird's eye view.

The pit in Irvine is literally a tenth of the size of Chula's too. 250 people to 2500 people. IMO, Irvine pit is the hardest ticket on the tour.

The hike to the seats in Irvine is real. But it's not really a big deal if you get there early enough.

The real issue is to make sure you hit the lot early to avoid the traffic crush. People have been known to get snared in traffic coming in that causes them to miss the beginning of the show.

Once in, it's also important to line up a little before you actually want to make it past the gate. Nothing extreme but I'd say to allow 15-30 minutes depending on how long the line is snaking into the parking lot.

If you plan ahead, you'll be fine. If you try to show up to the lot at 7:30, there's a decent chance that you'll inch through traffic, hit the gate at the worst point, and then have to pull the hike to your seats. By that point, you may well have missed the first three songs of the show.

I've never really golfed in that direction but I'd imagine that most courses in south OC are on the spendy side.

I'd recommend El Dorado golf course in Long Beach. About 20 min (w/o traffic) north of Irvine Meadows. Nothing special but nice enough and relatively inexpensive.

Awesome - thanks! I'm definitely willing to travel a bit outside the immediate Irvine area. I'm coming in from San Diego, so really anything along the way would work (assuming I get a tee time within the 8:00 - 10:00 window).

I still haven't booked any part of my trip, but have my tickets. Supposed to be out for an event for work, but my client better not screw me and decide they're not going to cover my travel out. They've had to deal with budget cuts to their marketing dept. as of late.

If you don't mind playing on the city public courses, you can get in for under $50 on most of those courses easily. Any private course from Carlsbad to Irvine is not going to be cheap, in the $80-$175 range, with the upper end of those being courses right along the ocean.

Someone on the WH boards looking to trade their Irvine Loge 4 for Gorge Pit N1 or N2. They did say tickets are not for sale, so keep that in mind. No email address, so you have to get on the WH boards if you want to try and get these.

City/Public courses takes up about 95% of my golfing... haha, I'm no private course player.

Ok good to know. The public courses in both San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano are nice, nothing special, but nice courses. Parts of the San Clemente course will offer ocean views, other parts have you in residential areas. Below are links to 3 courses I played many years ago that were all fun. )No, I do not play anymore. Gave it up because I just didn't have the time to dedicate to get better.)

    San Clemente Public Course:
    http://sanclementegc.com

Shore Cliffs Course (in San Clemente as well):

    San Juan Hills Golf Club:
    http://www.sanjuanhillsgolf.com

I know Irvine has a ton of courses (some very close to the venue) and one that I always heard good things about was Strawberry Farms. Looks like you can book a round after 3:00 pm for a pretty good rate, between $60-$75. Here is there site if you want to check it out.
    http://www.sf-golf.com

These are just ones that I know of, but you can pretty much pick any city from San Diego to Long Beach and Google [city name] golf course and something will pop up.

Awesome, much appreciated. It's sometimes picking courses based on online reviews/viewing sites.. so I always prefer getting someone's firsthand account.

The main reason this show is sold out is there are no shows in Los Angeles.

If anyone sees a Orch single, let me know - this will allow me to trade my ORCH pair for Chula Pits
