Listening now...about a third of the way through, and so far everything works pretty well together.

    I don't understand how Bixby Canyon Bridge isn't in anyone's Top 10.

I Will Possess Your Heart blew me away when I first heard it as the album debut. However, it also foreshadowed a different album to the previous 2...and the rest of the album didn't live up to what I was expecting.

You Are a Tourist is also good, but it's not so radically different to give me false hope about this upcoming album.

Check it out. Gonna listen in the morning when I can focus more. I'm excited, but kinda worried it won't live up to my expectations.

Only two full listens, but I am loving this album so far. "Unobstructed Views" is the standout for me right now, and it's incredible.

I don't really like it that much so far. Only listened once. I can't stand the drums on most tracks. Unobstructed Views sounds like it should be the big, epic track, but it never quite goes anywhere.

DCFC usually has really good first tracks- (The New Year, Title Track, Marching Bands, BCB...), but I don't really like Home Is a Fire at all.

You hit the nail on the head with that one. That track just gets more and more annoying, it doesn't go anywhere.

Can't agree more with whats been said all ready. The second half of the album is bar far the best and Monday Morning is probably my favorite so far. I think the album will grow on me, but I guess I had higher expectations.

Alright, finally giving this an intense listen now. I kind of see where people are coming from disliking the opener, and I kinda agreed earlier, but not at all this time. C&K is awesome too. On Some Boys right now. This was one of the weaker ones when I had it on in the background earlier. Not much to it.

The more I listen, the more I like it. It's definitely better than Narrow Stairs. That's as far as I'll go now, but it's a different sound than their earlier stuff. Like npr points out, if they tried to write songs like young angry guys, it would sound fake. Just like how Dave writing songs about random sex 15 years ago (Say Goodbye) sounds much better than Dave writing songs about random sex now (Cornbread).
I like Stay Young Go Dancing.

Still not ready to say whether I like it or not, since it's growing on me bit by bit. At least it's a good direction for the band.

Tough to make judgments, only on my 2nd listen. But "Monday Morning" is the only song that has really struck me right away. On first impressions alone, Narrow Stairs is much much better. But like I said, I've only listened once.

Can't really formulate a strong opinion after two close listens. For now I put it on par with Narrow Stairs. I'm not expecting much. Ben's in a good place now, as anyone would be considering who he's married to. It's just the way the game goes. For some reason, and this works in Dave's case as well, the songwriting just seems more meaningful or downright better when it's darker. I didn't get a dark feel at all with this album, and that's what I was expecting.

I think it's solid though, and at this point in Death Cab's career I don't think you can really ask for anymore than that

You Are a Tourist is the only song I didn't like so far. Big thumbs down on that track.

What's the cheapest anyone has seen this in stores? I want a higher quality version (lossless or 320 MP3s) than what iTunes offer so I'm gonna buy a CD unless someone knows somewhere I can find that online.

Best Buy has the CD for $9.99, anyone know of anything cheaper?

Can anyone comment on the dynamics? Is it typical 2010 loudness war 6dB or is it nice and open?

The new album is really great overall. Gets a little better with each listen. I really love how they write both melodies and lyrics. They are really proving themselves over and over again with each album release. What a solid band.
