Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC TV Show)

As they roll out more information about Coulson, I wonder if they will tie it in with the Capt. America release in April. They already tied in Thor this past week, so it wouldn't be an earth shattering concept. On a note about the new Capt. America, ScarJo plays a prominent role in the trailers, so maybe as well in the movie. May be worth the prices of admission just for that alone.

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC TV Show)

Well yea the production team was already pretty open about that awhile back, that Black Widow plays a genuine, significant supporting role in the movie. Certainly not just a wink of tossing her in there to make the continuity fun. I did however find it interesting that between both of those Winter Soldier trailers we saw, I don't think either had a single glimpse of Emily Van Camp. So I'm wondering now if she indeed won't have, as the supposed 'love interest' role, nearly as meaty a part in the movie as did, say, Hayley Atwell for the first.

speaking of which if they do try and go forward with that Agent Carter TV series, they better damn well get Atwell herself or I think it's a no-go for me.

oh and, going by the total episode order they supposedly have, I'd imagine that at the very least 2, and possibly like 4 more episodes of AoS will be airing right into May sweeps in the wake of Winter Soldier's theatrical release. So I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they try to tailor an episode around it like they did here.

I like that May is getting more involved in the show, just don't like the whole 'Ward-banged-May' story line. Also think the May knows more about Sky's mom and her past, like either they are related some how or she was one that pulled the trigger.

Yea that really seems to have come out of nowhere, I don't buy at all why she'd suddenly be interesting in nailing him.

The way they came up with the 'answer' for the threat in this episode, it sorta reminded me of how ridiculous House was getting when it came to that during the last few years of that series. Someone randomly uses the word "childish", and Skye instantly makes this connection out of nowhere that the vanishing guy keeps being childish, meaning he's in love with the girl, not trying to kill her.

so... it's pretty obvious to everyone else that that guy (who they broke out of the prison at the start) IS the "clairvoyent" himself, too, right?

Not obvious to me but you're probably right. I watch the show but I don't pay much attention. I watch it b/c

A.there's nothing else on at the time
    B. Sky is hot
    C. It's mildly entertaining

The plot is relatively uninteresting so far. Although, this past episode was pretty good.

well honestly part of my point I guess was that you really wouldn't even have to be paying super close attention to pick up on that fact. For one thing how much they bothered to stress how back in that previous prison meeting scene (the lip reading) the guy says "the clairvoyant doesn't like to be touched", then their scene near the end in the back seat of the car, she ever so slightly moves her hand over his on the seat in a loving manner, and he clearly is less than thrilled by the action.

I am. It really is starting to pick up a bit, especially with how they revived Coulson and especially how they ended last night's ep

As for Cap, I don't know yet. They'll probably just reference it a lot in the following ep.

Last nights episode was one of the best, and the scenes for next week look great. See if they can build on it and make a good push for the rest of the season.

yea we still don't know all the finer details, but they were pretty clearly awhile ago now that certain events would be tied right into the Cap movie, just as it was with Thor 2. I mean that's part of the point with this. I have no doubt that every film that gets released within the time of the TV schedule, they will be directly referenced. hell by the start of next season they may even do something with GOTG, and I mean besides just some cutesy name drop.

speaking of, I believe a season 2 still hasn't been given a greenlight, but I have no doubt whatsoever it will be. Even with this thing not having received exactly huge ratings. Disney just has too much riding on this thing overall. I've said this before, the AoS series will for awhile get a lot more leeway than your average network drama when it comes to lower ratings.

I do have to say I was a little disappointed with the plot in this newest episode, as far as using the Thor crossover, like it was done for little other reason than to use a supporting film character. The dynamic between Sith and the previously unseen Lorelai chick from Asgard (who eerily reminded me of a young Kari Wuhrer, btw), the whole narrative was fairly simple and kinda easily dealt with.

absolutely. It needed time to find its own identity, and I think it's really starting to kick in.

btw I read recently that Whedon regular Amy Acker is going to appear in at least one episode, the famous "cellist", former girlfriend of Coulson's mentioned in the Avengers. Apparently part of the story will be her discovering that he's really alive.

when we first saw May make that uber-secret phone call last week at the end of the show, actually my first assumption was that she was basically talking to Fury, that it's just about her being one of the few agents who knows the genuine full truth about what happened to Coulson, and Fury obviously doesn't want him to know all of it yet.

But the way the end of this episode played out, it sure seemed like Coulson thought May was a mole for the real Clairvoyant. and based on her reaction, I don't think she is, I think it's closer to my above statement. But so, I guess the Saffron Burrows agent is the clairvoyant's mole... ?

That was my initial guess (based on conservation of characters, made before seeing last night's episode), but since they implied it so heavily last night I think it's a red herring.

My (updated) guess is Maye was talking to Hand, who reports to Fury, and Coulson's buddy and/or his Afro-American sidekick are the clairvoyant's mole(s). (Maybe the dead team members aren't really dead, but hostages...?)

This series is getting much better. After seeing the previews for Cap2 and this weeks episode, I can see them crossing over. In the series, Fury has been 'off the grid' for a while, in the preview from the end of AoS, he mentions being taken off the grid. Iuno, it seems like these last few episodes about SHIELD and who's who have been leading up to Cap2.

Yea actually this is the first Joss Whedon produced series I've ever watched (though I've got plenty of friends who are Buffy diehards), and from what I've heard, it's kind of par for the course on how Whedon shows go, they do take a good long while to find their footing and get going on a strong path. but then once they're in full stride, it's really great stuff.

and yea I criticized this show during the first half as much as anyone, though not like it still doesn't have issues (I still feel like Ward comes off as rather bland and cookie cutter, though I'm not on the bandwagon for Skye being an awful character that's acted poorly) But it does quite feel now like we're getting our dessert for having sat thru a whole veggies course.

Well, know that the plot is doing something interesting it takes a lot of the pressure off the characterizations. Skye is coming off a lot less "fan-fiction" too, which is good.

Last night's episode... the very instant there was that little moment between Ward and Skye in the hallway, where she hands him the backed up hard drive saying "you're right, this will be safer with you", I knew right then that Ward was with Hydra. I mean what else would have been the point in showing that?

What about that knowing nod between Ward and Coulson before Ward got on the plane at the end?

I don't think they have enough balls to try/pull off the resurrected Coulson being a bad guy. My guess is that Ward is still a good guy and Hand and her henchmen were bad guys and for some reason they knew Paxton was unaware of it. I think Ward is an undercover within Hydra now.
