99% of the time, I'll play along, even if it is a scam.
People could legitimately need help (like the example you gave), and if it is a scam and I fall for it, I'm out what - $10? Giving $10 to someone won't make a difference to me, but it could really make a difference to someone else.

The gas guy had me spooked when I saw someone hiding in the front seat of the car. It wasn't the scam so much that concerned me, but I just didn't feel safe. Then I laughed when I saw my husband totally fall for the scam.

Oversized load trucks on the highway during rush hours. There should be restrictions just for safety reasons, let alone the increase of traffic they cause.

Only between 8PM-5AM can huge shit be moved on the highways.

I've fallen for the scam once. I was in the middle of bumfuck nowhere NC and the guy I was talking with was either telling the truth or a really good actor. gave him $5 worth, he drove away.

it was also partially motivated by it being at night in nowhere northwest NC so he could have murdered me and no one would have noticed for days

I actually declined a $180 order because the guy tried writing a check from a city 35 miles away. He was in his mid-twenties and buying meat and beer. I told him he could use his atm or credit card. He had neither. Checks can be irritating, but it's the easiest way to walk out of a store without paying. A check is nothing more than a promissory note.

*In my neck of the woods, you either bring your own bag or pay for bags. Most people are cheap and don't want to pay .10 per bag.

Same here. But if I leave my bags in the car, I'll just load everything back into the cart and bag it myself when I get to the car.

Pay for bags? That's irritating. Everywhere I've gone gives you bags for free but deducts 10 cents for every bag you bring.

Isn't that effectively paying for bags?

I love my grocery store as well. Bag ban isn't up to them; it's a city wide ban.

I think what he means is, they take .10 off your total for each bag of your own you bring in. I know whole foods will still deduct .5 or .10 for every bag you bring in of your own and use. You can either take the cash or donate it the change to a charity picked by the store.

If you don't have bags, you pay more than you would if you had bags, so you're still effectively paying for bags.

I think that's what Shook is saying.

    No.

You pay for groceries. Some stores make you pay for bags, others give you a discount for bringing your own.

You'd have more money in your pocket if you didn't take the store's bags.

Call it whatever you want, the result is the same.

Right. In one situation you bring your bags and they don't charge you. In another if you bring your own bags they deduct money. In both, if you bring your own, your total bill is lower. Effectively the same thing.

I masturbated for 48 miles one day a few weeks ago. Probably a personal record.

I admire your worldview. I used to be like that. Now I'm a cynical fuck. However, I'm an uncanny judge of character and my bullshit radar rivals NORAD. I once lent a total stranger $180 for a cross country bus ticket. I actually purchased the ticket for them. They gave me their ID to hold but I just wrote down the info and gave it back to them. Literally 3 days later I got an email from their father (it was a 15 year old dude who had ran away, I was heading home from college) who paypal'd me $200. Sadly, more often than not, it's a scam or they're going to misappropriate the funds. It's the world I know.

First paragraph, EXACTLY. I mean, I've floated checks before. It's a negotiable instrument too. At least I'm upfront about it. I think everyone has postdated a check at some point for personal/non-commercial transactions.

I also obsessively check for my wallet. For the first time in a long time I drove to the 7-11 near me, could have walked there just as quick since it's literally 500 feet from my house and up a hill, and I didn't have my wallet. Knew it as soon as I got out of my car. Walked back to get it, then drove home....like a boss. When I walk into a store, I make damn well sure I have the money. Nothing would be more embarrassing than that (also inconsiderate, etc.)

Just drove a guy to Scum-Mart. Three carts and $480 worth of shit later, two and a half hour, he comes out. Of course, that's pretty much his food and supplies for a month since he lives way the fuck out in the middle of nowhere and lives off a disability check. He gives me gas money and I do it because he has always been a solid dude to me, is dying, and I'm not a total scumbag like his relatives seem to be.

    Flaky mothafuckas.

Going to Athens for the game today, an old friend messages ME: hey, we'll be at the game too and are going downtown after. Would love to see you and meet your girlfriend.

After the game, they go straight to the opposite side of the city as downtown for food, finally tell me so a couple hours later, and ask where we are. Then two hours later tell me there was traffic coming back downtown so they decided to head home.

This was typical of this girl back when we hung out in college.

cannot count the number of times that happened. resorted to not making plans myself, usually, and not caring if I meet up with friends. Would obviously love to meet up, but I don't count my chickens before they hatch.

White cars that drive without their lights on in the rain. It's almost like certain people who wear dark clothes and don't smile while walking in the road at night when there's a perfectly good sidewalk 5 feet away.

This big car wash complex by my house used to have this awesome vacuum center that had shampooers and what not. Loved it. Took a lot of quarters but was well worth it.

Well, now their vacuum center is free, when you buy one of their garbage auto washes (this is the only way to use the vacuum center) and it blows ass. Terrible suction, no shampooers. Just awful.

I guess they're trying to push you into paying for their hand detail bullshit, but it's just going to push me to find another car wash center.

Customer/Public Facing jobs. Done with it. Put in my two weeks today. At least I'm not walking out. I don't have another job lined up. I have it covered for awhile. I can't deal with people's petty bullshit any longer.
