This one. I wouldn't use the words "don't like" though. It's more of a "prefer less". 1998-2007 are the best years of Dave's voice.

    2008 > 2005-2007

Is that when he quit smoking? Somehow, his vocals drastically improved in 2008

Dave's vocals sound too whiny on the last two albums.

I really enjoy Time Bomb, Spaceman, TDT, and drive in drive out when they're played by D&T. I feel like Don't drink the water is a tad bit overplayed. Only half of some devil is really worth listening too. Everytime I hear Crush live, I die a little because its such a long song, and Ive heard it so many times before (Thats not to say that its bad, I like it, just not THAT much, I've heard it live too many times already) I enjoy the songs in AFTW but I dont really like any studio versions. this isnt really an unpopular opinion, but BTCS Is by far the best studio album.

There are some really great Roi performances on Dream Girl in 05. I was always bummed when they cut the song down, as I felt the best part of the song was Roi's solo.

I listened to a live '05 version again recently, and I realized how good the music is. The lyrics, however, are still garbage. That said, I was at SPAC in 2010 when DG was played for the first time in years and there was an audible groan that erupted from the audience Still the funnest thing I've experienced at a show.

My unpopular opinion is that I love Mother Father. I'm not saying it's top 30 or anything, but I'd love to hear it at a show. The Warehouse version with Santana is a phenomenal performance.

Break For It is really good. It's a DMB tragedy in our modern times where it has as many plays as Mother Father, which DMB is correct in abandoning (Mother Father that is).

I was on the lawn when that turd came back. That groan was very, very, very, audible. Good times!

I remember seeing it at the Gorge in 2010 night 3. Show was awful but that song was really good. That guitar line is so fucking cool.

Asking in all seriousness: can someone explain the hate fans have for MF? Again it's nowhere near heir best song and is, imo, about middle of the road, but I've seen so many people say it's bottom 5 or 10. Just curious as to why people seem to hate it so much.

I would never want it to become a staple, but I think it could be a cool song to play 5-7 times in a tour.

MF would be fine if you are someone who wants them to play as many songs as possible every tour

I'm not like that. I'd rather they played 60-75 songs a tour, with none of those 60-75 getting more than 20 plays. mother father is not making it only my list of 60-75

You trust dave to pick 60-75 good songs?

The number should be around 90-100 on a full tour IMO.

But, as you said, the major issue is how many plays a select handful of songs get.

this is by definition a fantasy world we are talking about. in the one I've created where they play 60-75 songs per tour, I pick those 60-75 songs

This version of Dreamgirl (Red Rocks 05) is pretty great. The outro is a statement to how important LeRoi was to this band.

I liked DG as the opener in the 6.29.13 camden show. That's in my top 3 of the shows that I've been to. DG > DIDO > Joyride somehow works for me. That's also a great ChesterCopperpot full show to watch

I like LT 6; perhaps the best version of Warehouse I've ever heard.
Rashawn was a great addition to the band.
    The Lovely Ladies are excellent.
Not a big fan of Halloween.

If the lovely ladies weren't on listener supported I would listen to it 999999x more. I share your opinion on LT6, and I like myself a trumpet solo every now and then. Halloween is a gamble though: It can be really awesome, or it can be REALLY bad. Like the red rocks '05 version. Easily the worst version I've ever heard.

Black and Bluebird is a Top 10 song for me.

Not that I've ever heard anyone talk about it, but 9/13/15 is a great show and an even better tape. It also has one of my favorite versions of Black and Bluebird on it.

I've never disliked Dream Girl. That version posted above is great, and I agree about Leroi's contribution to it. I always thought the '05 versions of the song had a pretty old school sounding DMB vibe to them, and especially because of Leroi's solos at the end. The intro to the 6/29/13 version is absolutely beautiful. It's been a while since I've watched the show, but I think you can even see Dave say something that looks like "that was beautiful".

I was a fairly new fan when Everday came out so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and figured they knew what they were doing. When Stand Up came out I knew something was very wrong.

While many can be viewed as cheesy, I had never cringed upon hearing lyrics from the band like I did the first time I heard Dreamgirl, which is a shame because I really enjoy the music.

While many can be viewed as cheesy, I had never cringed upon hearing lyrics from the band like I did the first time I heard Dreamgirl, which is a shame because I really enjoy the music.
Stand Up was definitely a shocker the first time I heard it. I honestly didn't know what to think. But I've always enjoyed following DMB and the different avenues they take. That was an album in which they may have missed the mark with most fans, but I appreciated the attempt at something different and I also felt the songs translated live pretty well. I've said this before, but one of the things I love about this band is that they are kind of like 10 bands in one. There's many different eras of their sound and the music is always diverse.
