The point in all of this was not to prove that the performers are legit or that the awards are given to the right records. In all honesty even DMB had no business in the category of AOTY this year. My point is only that on these boards people talk so much shit about the Grammy's saying that they mean nothing but on the flipside if DMB had won you know people would be using that as a positive thing. There would be few members of ants saying "It is no big deal DMB won a grammy." No, they would be saying shit like "It is about time" or something to that affect.

That's beside the point though. That's like saying nobody should make fun of a bad QB unless they can throw a football 70 yards. Art and performance are perfectly open to criticism. This point would valid if significantly higher quality art (music) didn't exist. But it does and it is very easily found in this day and age.
There are two problems. One, the general public is easily swayed. Not necessarily dumb (but that's very arguable in terms of music), but buy into mass media easily. The other problem is people in the industry buy into this as well. You have no idea how much shitty music I heard when I worked at Island Def Jam. It's an industry of yes men so when someone with remote authority likes something shitty, nobody tells them the truth half the time. The other half of the time the lower people like it too. It just perpetuates the problem.
