Re: Weightlifting

So I learned we have some New Mexicans in our midst yesterday, as well as chin up techniques. A very productive day for sure!

I have a pull up bar that has these to handles that extend straight out towards you from the bar. They shorten the grip and your palms face one another. It's sort of a happy medium between the two in my opinion. They're more challenging than palms facing and less difficult than palms away.

What's the rule for working through soreness... or is there one? The Spartacus workout has killed my legs by hitting some of the smaller muscles I think I never knew I had and they're still pretty sore. Those side lunges w/placing the dumbbells on the ground and picking them back up are tough. Anyway, today is my day to do it again and I'm not sure if I should or just hit up some cardio and work my upper body. I'm sure I could work through it, but I just don't want to do any damage.

Didn't it say to take the day off from it if you're so and do it the next day??? Coulda been one of the other full body workouts I was looking at tho....

And I started the Spartacus workout yesterday, and let me tell you I could not physically do the 60 seconds for each set. I had to truncate my workout. Hopefully my endurance will pick up soon.

i've lost 3lbs since March. Really unnoticeable. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I'm not losing/gaining where I want to.

How much are you looking to lose? Maybe try to bulk up for a bit then try to cut back down?

Workouts are going fine. I've been running for 60 minutes straight for about three months now, but I wanted to add something to trim and tone, as well as tighten up my core. I think this Spartacus deal is going to kill me. So, if I'm away from Ants for a while, send somebody to North Mississippi to find me! Tell them to not mind the dumbbells

10 lbs, which would put me at 5'10" 175lbs.

Most of it is in my moobs/lower stomach.

I'm the same way. Just wanna feel confident with my shirt off and know girls like what they see. I'm sure that is vain as hell, but for once in my life I wanna be ripped, so I can say to my kids that your old man was once in unbelievable shape

So, any input on the soreness deal? Maybe I should just skip the leg-related parts of the Spartacus workout today and throw in some burpees. There was another pretty good full-body workout in one of the Men's Health that George St. Pierre apparently uses. I tried it once, less intense than Spartacus but still seems good.

I'd ditch the PB&J and replace it with tuna or turkey. The jelly is unnecessary sugar and carbs and you're not getting very much protein with that meal. How big is your glass of OJ? I love OJ, so it's tough for me too, but I limit myself to a really small glass in the morning, like 4oz.

i think you may need to identify between sore and unable to perform. perhaps go lighter and add extra cardio. after soccer games i'm traditionally dead the next day, still force myself to run though. My muscles aren't tight or anything so I feel like the soreness just comes from the lack of use.

the PB is like 7G per Tbsp, i think. i bought ham for this week and plan on loading up the veggies: pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, onions

    anyways, it's ~8oz

Are you putting milk in the cereal? If so what kind? You might want to switch to something like egg beaters for breakfast. 3 egg beaters is only 90 calories. I agree with Rodey I'd ditch the OJ because it's 200+ calories and I'd ditch the PB&J too. Man managing calories is a pain in the ass

I usually have straight black coffee and a glass of water to take my vitamins with, but I drink about a gallon of water a day so I'm used to just water

I usually have a glass of nonfat milk with lunch and dinner. Breakfast is usually a real small glass of OJ and a cup of black coffee. Otherwise I just guzzle water all day and usually have a cup of green tea in the afternoon to give me a little pick me up.
