Nice work Adam. Date is confirmed and I am entertaining the thought of coming out since there appears to be no 2017 tour, or at least not a full blown tour. Why not try and see them at a venue I love and have such great memories from in the past.

SO glad they are coming back!! This will be the first year I see the band a couple months before (in June), usually I have to wait all summer. I have a feeling by the time I am done with Hartford and Mansfield, I will be anxiously counting down until Chula!

I am wondering this as well? Even if there's no demand for this show shouldn't we still get the citi perk???

hey guys. my wife and i are about to move from Maryland to SD (new job opportunity). so freaking excited. also excited to see dmb on the west coast. in addition to ISO 2 pavillion seats, can anyone share some insight about the venue, the people, etc...

any help on either fronts will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to California! You're going to love not scraping ice off your windshield come winter.

The venue in Chula Vista is decent though nothing spectacular. It's kind of out in the middle of nowhere 30 min. away from Downtown SD (more with traffic) and there are no restaurants/bars anywhere near it from what I can recall. There is a decent selection of craft beers for sale (if you're into it) at more reasonable prices than some venues.

One word of warning, CA fans tend to be more laid back than those back east. If you're the type that judges a show based on crowd energy, you're bound to be disappointed. Get ready for fewer people dancing and an unfortunate number of people talking loudly and/or on their phones. It just is what it is out here. Especially out on the lawn. At least the "herbal refreshments" are good. And the band always puts on a good show regardless and when it comes down to it, I've always met good people at DMB shows.

If you're the type that likes to hit multiple shows I'd suggest going to Irvine the next night as well. It's about an hour and a half drive from SD and for some reason Irvine seems to get slightly better setlists than Chula in my opinion. I'm from the LA area and my wife and I are hitting both this year.

Hope that helps a little. Because I'm from LA, I'm not exactly an expert on SD but I do know there are a ton of cool bars and breweries around. SD really is a great town. I've always had a good time there.

TwoStep01, thanks for the awesome feedback. yeah pretty pumped to be moving away from this crappy weather - though i will miss the seasons.

while i dont judge a show based on crowd energy, it certainly adds to the fun. but it won't necessarily make or break my experience. fortunately, i dont need to ever wonder about what happens on the lawn, that's never been my scene.

i used to be a 3-4 shows a tour guy, but life and my dwindling excitement for the band based on the last few years has kept me to 1 show a tour, maybe 2. but since i will be experiencing new venues out there, maybe ill hit up another show. thanks for the input on Irvine. My brother lives in LA so I could always make the 2.5hr drive to LA to see them.

edit: do you think the set lists will be similar between chula and irvine? what has it been like historically (assuming the band usually makes those stops back to back). i've done va beach and bristow back to back a couple times, but once i saw that the sets were basically the same, i stopped doing that.

Going to toss my .02 in here since from 1997-2012 I hit every show in the LA/OC/SD market. From my experience, the sets between Chula and Irvine tend to be the same, with the occasional switch up. They treat them as separate shows, not a 2 night stand even only separated by less then 100 miles.

The info on crowds from TwoStep01 is spot on. I always found the crowd at Chula to be a bit more into it as the Irvine show has/had become the de-facto LA show in recent years. With that said, Irvine has also gotten some pretty solid shows the last 3 tours, so maybe the crowd will be more into these days.

If you like to tailgate, I always liked the tailgate at Chula better then Irvine. Irvine is like Pleasentville, USA, they want to keep it looking perfect and that no one breaks the law. So the cops can be extra vigilant if they sniff out anything. The key is just make sure you have everything in cups and don't be stupid about smoking out where you can be seen.

It looks like I may find myself out this way for the shows this year, so looking forward to making one last trip to each venue, or at least Irvine for sure as this is the last hurrah for that venue. Don't have tickets yet, but not worried. Should be able to find something as the shows get closer.

you actually bring up a good question. what have your experiences been like getting tickets to shows?

since the east coast has a stronger fan base (higher concentration of fans, more stops, bigger name venues, etc..), i've often had trouble getting good tickets to the shows. is it easier out there to get tickets?

i feel like Chula isn't as much of a hub for the fan base than MD/VA/DC where I'm coming from. Especially with the proximity to NY/NJ/New England.

like you, i dont have tix yet, but do lowers come available on the boards as we get closer?
