Live Trax 32 - 08.23.14 - 3CD+1DVD (DMB skimps on Blu-ray again)

You probably just got your e-mail too.

08.23.14 - Greek Theatre, Berkeley, CA

3CD or 3CD+1DVD

Quote:
Dave Matthews Band performed three shows at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA on August 22-24, 2014. The Saturday show of the celebrated weekend has been chosen as Live Trax 32 and will be released in its entirety as a 3 CD and 3CD /1 DVD set. Select songs from the Friday and Sunday Greek shows will be available on a bonus disk with pre-orders (8 songs for Warehouse members/5 songs for public pre-orders).
WH link - http://warehouse.shop.musictoday.com...spx?cp=6_68235

24-bit download option, but if the last one was any indicator it will be the same hot mastering and therefore kind of defeats the purpose. People buy 24-bit recordings because they have good systems and don't want aggressive dynamic range compression.

I have every Live Trax through 31, but I'm having a REALLY hard time justifying why I should get this one. N1 seems like it would have been a much, much better choice from that weekend.

Yeah the DVD kind of pushes me, just for the acoustic set. Should be spread over 2DVDs though.

Is it bad that I actually wanted Stolen Away on the release from this year? I love it acoustically.

Same for me. When LT28 had a DVD, I didn't think I would buy most bundled DVDs. But it'd be nice to have some acoustic stuff on DVD.

Meh... surprised Two Step acoustic wasn't selected for the bonus disc. Was one of the best parts of #2sets.

I disagree, from a setlist stand point (I didn't go to or listen to the shows). I much prefer Night 2 to Night 1. Not even close for me.

Pretty disappointing choice. The primary reason I wanted a 2014 release was for an acoustic Two Step and Stolen Away. Can't believe they managed to pick a show with neither.

LMAO I called it in the other Live Trax thread...

From repeated acoustic songs, to pedestrian electric sets with confusing encores, we know that Summer 2014 is one fan's just can't forget (no matter how hard they try). Live Trax 32 ignores the amazing run with Bela Fleck at the First Niagra Pavilion, and instead focuses on a forgettable show featuring the Lovely Ladies! Sit back and listen as they bring unnecessary warbling to songs like Drunken Soldier, You & Me, and everyone's favorite bathroom break, Can't Stop.

Pre-orders will not include anything extra, and many mailings will probably be lost for months in the postal system. Order yours today."

The only thing I got wrong was assuming Drunken Soldier would be on it (the only track that might have made LT32 worth anything). What an awful release, will not be purchasing.

The last LT DVD was lossy Dolby stereo as well as 5.1 - the 5.1 mix was noticeably more dynamic but of course suffers from a pretty big fidelity drop (448 Kbps for 6 channels). Shame the 24-bit option last time was the same hot master as the CD/16-bit download, could re-author the DVD with a nice dynamic 24-bit PCM stereo track if it was...spread over 2 discs.

Even if they drop the 5.1 mix and just do PCM stereo I don't think they'd fit it on a single DVD9 without ridiculous amounts of compression resulting in a barely watchable picture.

Seriously though on the DVD. At this point it's akin to releasing the audio on cassette.

I knew there was no way we'd get a 2014 show without the Lovely Ladies! I'll get it and make my decision on what I think upon listening and watching. On paper this set is pretty blah. The acoustic set is nothing that special and the electric set doesn't have much going on either. Night 1 would definitely have been a better choice. Way better variety of songs. I have been a supporter of the 2014 tour in that it was a pretty solid tour, but of all the shows they could have picked from they found what looks to be a dud. Luckily we have the Jacksonville webcast with songs like Snow Outside, Two Step, Minarets, Good Good Time, but I would have preferred those on a live trax and official DVD.

    What's your point?

It's even better on blu-ray, or lossless audio. Release a blu-ray or at least a 1080P digital download.

    DVD? Really? Why?
