Re: your 2014 concerts

Billy Joel Feb 9th is the only thing planned as of yet other than Dave Matthews related shows so far. Hope to get a U2 tour this year or next. Can't believe its almost 5 years since the show at Carter Finley Stadium back in the fall of 2009. 360 tour was crazy

I saw them at Lolla '07 never having heard them before and they blew me away. The only reason I saw them was because they were on the same stage as Pearl Jam was headlining on later. I wanted to go to the other side of the park to see Iggy & the Stooges in the same time slot, but we didn't want to give up our spot for PJ, so we stayed for KoL and they knocked me out.

I haven't seen them since. Might get to check them out in March at the United Center because Gary Clark, Jr. is going to be opening for them. My drummer is good friends with Gary's bass player and he invites us out to the show whenever they're in Chicago, he mentioned they'd be there and said he'd try to get us passes. Will be very interesting to see how they are live now compared to '07, which seems like ages ago.

I was at that show too, and it was my first exposure to KoL and just like you I was impressed. Black thumbnail had the whole place rocking. Don't forget that MMJ came on after KoL too. That was an epic day of music

KoL has just gone downhill big time since then though. BoTT was the last album they made that was any good IMO and fame really didn't do them any favors, they came off as huge divas during their hey-day (08-2011) and have since kind of disappeared. I feel like they will maintain a small devoted fanbase but we won't hear too much more from them on a national level, and they will break up in the near future. Those family bands never seem to stick around for too long before things get complicated

It really was! MMJ killed it and of course PJ did as well. Loved when Ben Harper came out to do Dylan's 'Masters of War' with Eddie.

Seriously devastated to find out DMB is not playing Alpine this year. I live in Chicago so the Northerly Island shows will be cool, and I'll hit Deer Creek as well, but no Alpine literally puts a huge damper on my entire year. I look forward to that weekend probably more than anything else every single year, it's like my Christmas.

He's pretty solid live, really nothing spectacular though to be honest. He's kind of just a stone on stage, doesn't really interact much. I really like his songs though, so I'd see him again.

in addition, got a bunch of friends to talk about what festival to hit up this summer. looks like we're planning for osheaga in montreal. i hadn't heard of it until someone else suggested it, it's pretty much the canadian version of coachella. i looked at past lineups and they look real good, hoping this summer will be another solid one.

Arcade Fire in Chicago next fall. Will hopefully get to at least one night at Alpine this year. Last year was my first time not at Alpine since '03

Will see The Hold Steady when they tour for their next record.
