I missed a lot of the first season last year, but I'm renting the DVDs from Netflix and catching up on everything!

I watched Season 1 on DVD just as season 2 was starting. My cable co has had an free on demand promo, so I'm caught up except for last night's ep.

Great show, great acting, pretty intense from time to time, but funny. I miss Tuco, what a psycho.

i was going to ask the same thing^. the show leaves a lot up to the viewer as far as interpretation of characters feelings and such. my guess is that you are right. i think that his last few days in the desert were so stressful that he just kinda flipped. also, Walt has been trying to justify his own actions by making himself believe that he is not going to get better, so getting this most recent health news has angered him/made him feel guilty about his actions.

Either way, he did what he did to pay for his treatment, which he couldn't have done with out making the meth. So even though he is getting better he still in his own opinion had to do it.

My friend is an English major, so he always helps me with the analytical side of this show when we watch it.

At the beginning of the episode, you could see Walt next to a fountain in the waiting room. At the end, he was also seen with water when he was splashing his face. Water in an analytical sense is always view as "life." So it's showing that Walt is dealing with looking at his life throughout the show. When he finds out how happy he and his family is, it has him looking at his life again. He then sees his reflection in the paper towel dispenser, and he realizes that he HATES what he's become. Obviously, it enraged him and he punched it.

Also, when people are diagnosed with Cancer, it's normally a sort of crystallizing moment to them. They see the importance of living life and it causes them to have an entirely new perspective. The way Walt has lead his life after being diagnosed is less than desired, and this has caused him to have his meltdown.

All in all, since he found out the news he realized that he has MUCH more time to live. This isn't what he had planned, and because of this, it seems as though he wants to get out of it. We'll see how he handles himself next episode, which I think is going to be very monumental.

and the dude at the office might regret that when walt goes "tuco" on him.
I'm loving the opening scenes, where Walt's house is developing into a crime scene, intense show.

Very intense. What do you think of my assessment of the end of last weeks episode?

It's like 5 or so posts up from this one.

    Fair assessment I think.

I thought that he was angry because he'd prepared himself for the bad news. He was mentally ready to go, he made preparations for his family by cooking the 600k worth of meth, he wasn't going to have to answer for his crimes because he was on his way out. Suddenly he's going to live, he has to keep up the lies, keep up with his shaky family issues, just keep on being Walt.

Definitely. I just got into the show this season, so I've still got all of Season 1 to watch. It's such a great show though, I love it. Although this weeks was a little week. Better Call Saul may have been my favorite so far.

I'm glad to see there's a Breaking Bad thread on ants

Has anyone started trying to guess who was in the body bags in the opening scene? I have a couple of ideas, but they really could go any way. I saw an extra online or somewhere that had the cast saying the last 3 episodes of this season would shock and upset some viewers (or something along those lines)...bring on the last 3 episodes!

Walt jr.? That's what I think...I see Walt being left to raise a newborn baby girl alone as season 2 ends.
