Don't listen to or know much Dead but I think that's awesome. Such a cool, hazy vibe

The National have been road testing a handful of new songs this past weekend. Some titles include: "Hague Blue" , "The Day I Die" and "Sometimes I Don't Think."

Here's a video of "The Day I Die" from the Hamilton show this past Friday. Lyrically it's hard to make out what Matt's singing but around the 3:35 mark of the song Aaron and Bryce just start SHREDDING which is awesome!!

last night was fucking awesome. first time seeing these guys. i didn't think i could love the band more than i do

i haven't been following their setlists so i was surprised to see so many new songs. they sounded awesome. overall the show was very trouble will find me + high violet heavy. sorta wish they played more older songs but i really can't complain.

the venue was random as fuck. at an art museum in north adams (the least populous city of massachusetts), out very very west and in the sticks. it was a charity concert which was cool. turned out to be a beautiful night for an outdoor concert- very green, a train parked right next to the stage, and by the brick warehouse-looking museum. #hipsternation

matt looked like a goon but i kinda dig it. during terrible love he came out to the crowd, right next to where we were standing

Thank! Yep, had a couple. Thought it was solid. Pretty cool that they did a small batch for the show. We got up there around 3, and checked out the museum and had a few drinks before heading in to the field. It was a pretty unique show experience, although driving home on a ton of windy back roads was far from ideal

They didn't actually play Morning Dew. It was on the setlist but skipped. I heard them soundcheck a piece of it earlier in the day but they gave up after a few attempts. Must've just not been feeling it. The only time it's been played live was on a tv appearance a month or so ago

Was not as impressed with Alligator as much as everyone else in this thread from back reading. Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers and High Violet are out of this world

I'm in this boat. Just glad I found the party. I caught Bloodbuzz Ohio on Sirius XM several months ago, then started to explore their catalog on Spotify and fell in love with the music. I do like Alligators quite a bit, but it's not my favorite one. High Violet is tits. I am also in love with the Cherry Tree EP.

    Yay for new material.

I think they played six new songs when I saw them last week in Berkeley.

It's Just the Light/The Lights was my favorite. I thought a lot of them sounded gloomy, even by National standards.

The new songs still sound very "The National." I think the electronic-ness is in the new songs the same way the electronic-ness is in say - "Sea of Love."

One song that stood out to me was "The Day I Die." Sounds like something straight off Alligator. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZbBdMRmi7A

Another new song, "Roman Candle" sounds very different. There is a very evident synth throughout the song that sounds super different from anything they have done before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0uM2Cdg-vY
