Zion that teeter on the edge of sounding bluesy, at some points. And then there's the harder, more mathematical stuff, like Russian Circles, etc. But there's tracks on this album that manage to sound like all 4 bands I just listed. Hell, the second track, Till Vaning Tretton, did it in order.

Very interesting album. I'll have to listen to it more, but this might be an album that sticks around to the end of the year. Which one of you liked the last BTBaM album? I feel like it was umphucked, but I'm not sure. But this might even be something you'd like.

EDIT: Just read the actual background on the blog post. "Before starting Dorena in the fall of 2007, four of the five members were in a screamo band." This explains a lot.
Downloading as I type. Thanks for the recommendation

Like I said, it only has some moments where it gets fairly intense. Most of this album is much more subdued, almost ambient post-rock, much more in the Sigur Ros or Explosions genre. So I'm not really sure how much you like that stuff. But there was at least one moment that made me think that, so you'll probably at least like that one moment.

I love Explosions and some Sigur Ros, so I think there's a good chance I'll enjoy this.

I still really dig Mystics. It's certainly downhill from the other two, but I really do honestly like it, 2 years later.

I downloaded two albums from that site. Both were pretty bad, so you may wanna stay away from these. Cool site, though.

    Cadence Weapon: Separation Anxiety
Peter Adams: I Woke With Planets In My Face

Currently I'm listening to Sound Of Silver

I don't have Songs but Soviet Kitsch is an awesome cd. On the way back from Bonnaroo 07, me and my friend listened to it twice in a row and barely said a word the whole time. Ghost of Corporate Future and Chemo Limo are both amazing. She gets a little too out there at times, but when she's on, she's on.

Yesterday I made the concious decision to give Yoshimi another chance. I bought it when Do You Realize?? was on a commercial, of course, and couldn't get into it, but my musical tastes have come a long way since 2004. (At least, I'd like to think.)

Thanks. I'll be checking that cd out. Make sure you listen to "Samson," though; song is incredible.

Actually, there is a Samson on Begin to Hope. I like it but for the one line about wonderbread. Other than that, it's a good song.

I forgot to mention "Us" on Soviet Kitsch.

Good to see Mountain Jam adding new, non-jam bands. Coheed & Cambria, The Hold Steady, and Girl talk are playing this year. I'll definitely try to make my way to that.

So I just ordered my Helio Sequence tickets, and there's a second opening band listed. It just says "Yeltsin". Now, unless there's some random band out there called Yeltsin... this show may have gotten that much better. SSLYBY doesn't have any shows listed from the end of January until April. That would be awesome.

Disregard the last post. It is, in fact, a random band named Yeltsin.

I REALLY like keep your eyes ahead...way more catchy and fun than I was expecting, pretty straightforward too.

    Definitely am recommending this album

Everybody grabbed it off of my blog already. SO MUCH MORE L33T THAN YOU, DANCING ANTS.

    If that's your real name.

I mean, I'm a sucker for post-rock, so I really dig this album, but I find that post rock bands usually fall into very set types. You've got the more epic, crescendo based, almost orchestral bands like Explosions in the Sky and early Sigur Ros. Then you've got more rock sounds, like Silver Mtn.

You should definitely look into a band named Yndi Halda (OMGZ! I'm giving a listening suggestion to Brendan! What is this world coming to! ).

Picture Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Ros, and GSYBE! all mixed into one and you essentially have these guys. Nothing really groundbreaking, but I would put this in my top 5 post-rock albums ever created.
