I pretty much listen to Spaceman, You and Me, and Why I Am....that's about it.

No!!!!Seriously....seven is one of the funkiest songs i've ever heard. the lyrics match great with the music. AP is awesome live. The breakdowns are epic IMO. The last half of time bomb is great hard rocking. Shake me sucks live . Ive seen it three times live and everytime it is more annoying.

Funny is way better live and one of their best live. Dive In is awful.....baby blue is exactly what it should be. Nothing more nothing less expected. Why I am has dave haters liking dave for some reason. I don't understand that.

You and Me is definately a movie soundtrack song and space is mediocre. Squirm is pretty good live and it seems to be gaining momentum....

People that shit on DMB, piss me off. If you don't like what they are producing then you can create your own damn band and keep your comments to yourself. This is a fan website and the last time I checked fans don't trash the bands they like, plain and simple. Big 3> BWGK>Busted Stuff> Everyday>>>>>>>>>>>Standup

I DO HOWEVER think daves voice is going to shit, but minga 20 years later what do you expect???

I agree 100% with op. I find myself going back to the old "big 3" albums now. When I listen to BW I'm constantly skipping songs and not connecting with any of the lyrics. It's an average album. imo its better than stand up but slightly worse than Everyday. just my opinion.

Nope, I still think it's their best effort outside of the big 3 and tLWS.

Nope, not getting old at all. I still listen to the songs as much as I did pretty much. Damn good album.

It's definitely one of the bands best works, but I'm actually getting quite bored with all the bands studio work. Most of it starting to not impress me anymore. The same thing happened to me with Led Zeppelin a few years back and I'm still unimpressed when I pop in a Zeppelin album. It actually makes me really sad that I feel this way. I still dig live DMB music though.

It was getting old cause I was listening to it a lot and then I went to my first show in June and listened to the show a lot. Then I took a break and came back to it just before my last show a few weeks ago and it was just as good. Definately not getting worse for me. By this time in 05 I had stopped listening to Stand Up all together.

Did your opinion change at all on LITHOG after seeing it live? That was a highlight for me. I loved the studio version tho, too.

I listened to it a ton right when it came out, really really liked it, then took a break after the first month or so. I think more than anything I was relieved that it wasn't Stand Up II. I think, in retrospect, I held back a little in liking it just because I tried to like Stand Up so much at first, and I didn't want to like BW just because it was the new CD and not because the music was good.

That being said, I can confidently say BW >>>> ED >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SU, and I think I'll still feel that way years from now. It's still behind the Big 3 and tLWS for me, mainly because this band in 09 is leagues different than DMB in the mid to late 90s. I wish it was the same, but it's not. Jeff is great, but no one replaces Roi. We all know Dave has a much different songwriting perspective now, unfortunately. It's definitely nice to see Carter and Stefan return to form on the new album. All in all, BW is a great listen, and has gotten better over time for me, and I think most all the songs are at least decent, and most are better live.

You know, the thing is this. I think that we all know or have accepted the fact, this band is not going to rehash the 90's again and make music that sounds like that. Perhaps this new and rejuvenated version of dmb is just starting to find it's groove with a newer sound. I do think Big Whiskey just scratches the surface of what the band with Jeff on board can do. I think they can make better music still and BW was the beginning. And to me that is a better tribute to Roi than anything, continuing to make good music.

I have listened to this album more than any other at this point. Every song is great to listen to altho I find myself skipping over the last 3 from time to time. Grux, Shake Me, Funny is an amazing way to start the album. Even if I wanted to stop listening to Big Whiskey I probably couldn't do it

I think the whole album is different from what we got in the 90's. That goes to show how important and crucial was Roi's roll in DMB. But changes are good, not always what we want but I think this album is a fresh start and a new beginnig for the DMB. Obviously it is not the same, its different. Not better no worst, just different. I'll always love DMB's music so I ABSOLUTLY LOVE this album, for what it represents, for the lyrics and music. Just go back and listen to Remember Two Things and you'll notice how the band has mature musically.

I've been on a huge Seven and Time Bomb kick, too. I'd have to say that I'm certainly not bored with this album, but there's something to it that I can't explain. It requires more actual listening to, than the big 3.

I'm really struggling to put this into words, but I was in a restaurant the other day, and then at Home Depot and heard songs playing from both Crash and UTTAD. They have that universal appeal, whereas BW seems to have a little more edge to it. Maybe that's how I'm trying to explain it - does anyone catch what I'm saying?

IMO it is as good! I am in the unique position that while I had been a casual fan for a long while, I have only been a big fan for the past year. I have just had a crash course in DMB, hearing MANY songs for the first time within the past year. BWGGK is my favorite new album of 2009 - I really do love it. Yes, some of my favorite songs come from earlier times, but incredibly enough - I like all of the songs on Big Whiskey - and some of them I even love.
