Re: Live Trax Volume 41 D&T 3/13/99

Just speculating a few things here regarding this release. None of this is something I actually KNOW

1. A large portion of these sales may come from fans that don't regularly DL tapes. I don't even have this specific tape (have others from the tour). I can see the argument that only hard core fans buy the livetrax series, but this must make financial sense for them.
2. Dave and Tim is a big draw for certain fans. I have quite a few friends who buy every Dave and Tim release who don't buy any other LIve Trax and certainly don't download tapes.
3. Obviously with the upcoming Dave and Tim tour there will be more hype for this amongst a lot of people eager to hear a Dave and Tim live sound before their show(s)
4. The DMBLIve series is completely separate from Live Trax. They don't care all that much about cross-over. Just look at the 95 shows. So many released are incredibly similar to DMBLive releases.

This is a solid release. You don't have to buy it if you think the tape is enough for you. I want a mixed released version of it so they already have my money. Just my two cents. NOt even sure why I felt the need to post this

Would rather see the rumored show everyone was talking about as the pick. That said, I have never actually heard this tape and it looks like a solid set. Might just pick it up for some new D&T to get ready for this years tour

Agree. The tape for this show is fantastic. Do not need to buy this, if this is in fact the next live trax. Not convinced until I see official announcement

No email, not on the main site, not on the store...not really official yet, but whatever.

Still have some older D&T LT releases in their packaging. Will not buy.

Once you have a number of really good D&T releases, what about another release compels you to buy it?

Because people put too much stock into a rumor.

Well the reality is there isnt anywhere near the disparity from the example you used here. But feel free to keep screaming into the abyss.

Might be my favorite Jimi Thing from D&T. Timmy's solos on that, Two Step, Monkey, to name a few are much better than the DMBLive release. Plus this Last Stop is better as well. They really were on that night.

It's a great tape but I'll still pick this one up, with the soft touch on the mastering they've been going with over the past few years this should sound absolutely mint.

don't do the DMBlive thing, don't peruse older setlists much, and don't do tapes either, so this is an entirely fresh show to me. sure I will buy.

Someone mentioned they would like to listen to the next live trax on their HiFi speakers or something like that. I took it as they just hope the next LT is the '04 HiFi Buys show.

The possibility of a switch should keep those who hear things from leaking it onto the board. Best not to say anything than look like a fool.

Probably the best D+T show out there. Much better release than 7/27/04.

I don't think anyone is saying it's a bad release. Just that it's very similar to the show we have that took place 10 days prior, different quality or not.

Personally, I just don't get excited about D+T releases which is ironic since it was Luther College that really won me over to the band way back when. I generally just cherry pick most D+T releases, and as such, I feel like I have most things I'd want from the duo.

Funny... I randomly downloaded this tape a few weeks ago and have been listening to it a lot recently. This is a great show.

To the people complaining about this show being too similar to the DMBLive release: is 7/27/04 not extremely similar to the other released '04 shows we have? Just a thought.

Yes and no. The 04 songs changed from night to night in length and often lyrically. I was very excited when I thought it was a full band 04 show. I'm much less excited now.
