Alpine Valley Update

http://mywalworthcounty.com/?p=23265

Small article that provides some insight as to why they are struggling. I'm assuming they are referring to D&C playing Wrigley instead.

    Re: Alpine Valley Update

Really good news here. Sounds like they will be upgrading some of the facilities which leads me to believe they are committed to really filling the schedule for 2018. Glad this popped up because I've been beginning to wonder what was going on with it.

I was expecting bad news, but this is good. Make some improvements and be ready for 2018 (hopefully DMB)

its really interesting to see the breakdowns of each year. there are some years that have higher numbers than others, and those, generally, have something in common. the top years, drawing 69-71k, were 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2010. 2003 was a pretty good year, too, drawing 67k. the top years were generally ones considered great tours, with an album tour when the band was still very popular.

Wow it's depressing to see the numbers drop off in recent years. I really thought Alpine was packed and had a renewed energy last year. I guess that was just because it was my first pit experience there lol

This just in dmb numbers and big tickets sales are going down, and some other bands are too, the ticket sales are going down. There is less attendance and the ticket sales are going down

That's the great thing about the pit. Heck, even in the pit at St Louis you thought the whole place was rocking.

that quote could be about DMB or the venue. sounds like it came straight from the band

I think hailtopitt is being nitpicky, per usual.

I think the statistic was they sold the most concert tickets in US, but not highest grossing, because they don't charge $200+ per ticket like some other artists.

I went to Alpine every other year for a decade to see DMB, then I went to the Gorge. . .end of story for my Alpine days. When Alpine is full there is no other venue like it, sad thing is it will never be for DMB again.
