Just placed a $100, non-refundable deposit for the Blu-Ray. Looks like it'll be fantastic

Sounds like that Halloween is a sequel, not a remake. And the premise is pretty damn cool.

I don't understand why it's hard to make original content.

People talk shit about Kevin Smith but at least he's original.

It's pretty sad. The worst part is that at what point have any of these sequels or reboots really been all that satisfying? Fans are never happy and a lot of these movies flop. I just don't get it. Our generation certainly had some great movies to grow up on, and some real classics came out of that era. What classics will this generation have? Reboots or remakes of old classics? Just so lame.

We, as a society, flock to these things still, that's the problem. As long as they keep making money for the most part, it won't stop. I mean the first Spiderman came out in 2002 and we are now going on to a second reboot in 13 years. Jurassic World was good, but nothing special and it totally screamed "another sequel" which it really shouldn't. Just end the fucking story. Granted, the first JP seemed like the story was over and well...

I read yesterday Zemeckis said as long as he's alive NO ONE will touch Back to the Future and hopes somehow his and Bob Gale's estates will stop it after that. If they could wait until after my death, I'd appreciate it.

Looks like that story came out in January. I have no idea how I missed it. Time for me to puke now.

Saw that on FB yesterday. I've actually worried about Back to the Future. Good to hear Zemeckis isn't as greedy as most. Agreed about JW. I enjoyed it for the most part, but it's interesting to see the standards people carry these days towards movies. I feel like it would have flopped had it been the direct sequel to the original JP released 20 years ago. Maybe not flopped, but not looked upon as highly as it's been looked upon. Most people I know that have seen it have said "I'm going into the movie expecting a silly movie about dinosaurs eating people"...that's not how the original was viewed. The original was looked upon as an innovative, captivating and smart movie. Throw 22 years in between the tow movies and the expectations drop and all of the sudden JW is considered just as captivating as the original?

In fairness, I stay away from this thread because seeing stories like an all-female Ghostbusters makes me want to napalm Hollywood. So this just reaffirms that I don't ever need to come back to this thread.

I would be down for a new Jaws, that could be good.

Breakfast Club is too much of a classic, they need to leave John Hughes' movies alone.

Modern day version: Emilio Estevez's character would be African American and one of the students would come out of the closet by the end of the movie

Edit: speaking of John Hughes, a Home Alone (original) reboot
