If you get there at 7am, like we are, we would likely face a 3-4 hour wait to get into the brewpub, and I'm just not that interested in getting there at 7am to wait 3 hours for the event to start, and then wait another 3-4 hours minimum to get into the pub just for a pour of Dark Lord or any form of Dark Lord they have. The event itself is too much fun otherwise and I'd miss a lot of that.

Now, my sister has this connection, so we may be able to bypass any lines to get in....but IF we do that, I would only stay for a pour or two of Dark Lord and I would leave to return to the party outside. Typically when people get into the brewpub, they don't leave for a long time...which is what creates the excessive wait.
yeah, i wouldn't wait in that line either. i'd much rather enjoy the experience and try my chances on liquor store lists.

And if u line up early on Sunday. The brewpub the last couple years has finished off he dl kegs from the night before. I'm sure it's a shitshow since a lot of people no about it. But I'd rather take my chances going that route than standing in a line that doesn't move.

Hoping for The same allotment and price as last year. I'm already going to be dropping a ton of cash. Increase in prices will put a real hurting on the beer fund.

Probably $4-500. I figure the bottles should cost me under 120-150 and we will say another 100-150 for variants if I win on both tickets. Then a couple random beers. Some food and my wallets empty.

If all goes well I should come home with a couple hundred in my pocket. But I sure as hell am not gonna get stuck in that ATM line. So I'm bringin more than I should need.

Yeah I am over planning as well. But the 4 other people I am going with will not buy their entire allotment or the variants if they win. So I will surely be buying more than just my allotment. May end up with 8-12 regular dark lords and am hoping for 2 variants but won't mind not having to spend the Cash on those if all of the 5 tickets are losers. I also plan to go immediately to the sales tent when I get inside.

there you go, i knew it was bottled i just didn't know where it would be released.
looks like i'll have to get tickets next year. i love to pick up rare brews, even if i don't personally enjoy them they are great for trades. never had DL but it sounds awesome from the BA ratings, i don't like coffee flavor but i love bourbon stouts.

In all honesty, you don't pick up much coffee. It's extremely sweet. And the regular version is not barrel aged. But is quite boozy at ~16% abv.

Nice. That should be cool. My buddy has an 07-12 going right now. I have to give one of my '13 since he is in Vegas this weekend. It's gonna be tough to open the 07-08 since they likely aren't all that great tasting and are worth a lot.

Ya. Hopefully the means there will some draught. But it likely means they can make more money off of a $50-75 bottle than charging $10 for a pour.

Now what's the allotment and price. Why they didn't wait to release all info at once makes me shake my head.

I know we knew variants like a day or two before but allotment wasn't announced till the morning of. Makes me wonder if they bottle it late the night before or the morning of. Who knows. It's fff. They don't always make sense. Lol

Probably the most drinkable 9.5% alcohol beer I've ever had. Very good.

Grand Cru Rodenbach: very good if you like sour beer, reminds me of New Glarus' Enigma. only 6% so you can get away with a few if you feel like drinking a bunch but that's tough with sour beers

Clown Shoes Vampire Slayer: maybe the darkest stout I've ever had. very good flavor, couldn't even see through the glass when you held it up to direct sunlight. at 10% you might as well split a bottle with someone but I thoroughly enjoyed it. surprisingly light mouth feel for how heavy the taste is

Stone Enjoy By 05.17.13 IPA: a fair amount of hoppiness. at 9.4% there's a bit of an alcohol bite. fairly light on the carbonation. worth a shot but nothing mind blowing IMO

I still stand by my original opinion that the 11.09.12 enjoy by has been the best of the ones I have had.

you DLD folks have tons of fun, I'm jealous. It may not be anywhere as awesome as DLD but Avery is doing a tap takeover tomorrow at my local bar. Tons of the good and rare stuff. tweak on tap! some good sours also. i start drinking at 10am.
