Thanks! Coming from you that's quite the compliment!

I thought the sunset was so pretty that it couldn't be missed so I had to figure something out. It was a chore, let me tell ya! I take pictures while driving far too often!

thanks, I appreciate that. I recommend saving up for a few months and gettinga good SLR camera. Stick with Nikon or Cannon, and try to budget around $500. It will last you for years and you'll be happy you paid the extra bucks.

Just so you know, it's the photograhper that makes the picture not the camera. A high quality camera only makes it easier not better.

cbot - Love those reflection pictures. Well done!

Thats very ture, but you want to make sure you get a camera you can control the things such as aperature, shutter, ISO, etc...also I thing SLR does make a difference too in regards to what you're trying to capture.

and thanks! I was hoping the reflection pictures came out good. I was experimenting with a differnet composition than I usually look for.

There are also Canon point and shoot's that have manual control of aperture, shutter speed and ISO and I've seen some excellent photos with those cameras. But yes, if the photog wants overall control of the picture then DSLR is the way to go.

DT#41 - I'd advise spending a little less on the DSLR body and a little more on the lens(es). A great lens will work for years and years but the digital bodies are changing so much it's not worth the investment. The Nikon D40 has already been scrapped for the D60 which is nothing more than a slightly beefed up D40. Take the extra $$$ and get the "discounted" D40 kit and a 50mm 1.8 instead. Just my take.

Get one that you can boost up the ISO since concerts are low light situations otherwise you might be disapointed in your results.

This winter scene was taken on my way to work one bitterly cold morning last winter. The Connecticut river had not yet frozen over, so the steam off the warmer water had frozen to the trees branches.
There would have been a full moon in the picture, but in the 5 minutes it took me to go home for my camera it was gone.

nice shots. I hope you dont mind, I ran this one through photoshop to see if I could help it at all. I recommend getting a copy. (its out there on mini nova) Also save your pictires as the biggest file possible to preserve the quality. I shoot in RAW format and those files can be as big as 30 mb each!

no i don't mind at all. thanks in fact! i have adobe photoshop cs2 or something. the full package. when i import the pictures onto my computer, they are just imported through a camera wizard or something. how would you suggest importing them so i can preserve the best quality and size?

Find out if there is a way on your camera to change the type of files you shoot. My camera has 5 file types, RAW, TIFF, FINE, Norm, and Basic.

Also in photoshop when you are done editing a picture and you "save as" a box will pop up that says quality. Always slide it over to "large file" ...quality is 12 (goes from 1-12).
