A team's record has nothing to do with what their stadium looks like. Dodger Stadium is nice, but it looks pretty much like every common baseball stadium. It's up on a hill that is a bitch to walk up if you don't want to pay for parking. It's open and looks out toward pretty much nothing. And in Los Angeles, a city with a lot of absolutely breathtaking views, Dodger Stadiums is really "meh".

Wrigley is old, but it's vintage look is charming. It's scoreboard and vine covered outfield wall are incredibly unique. Also the view toward the outfield is very nice. All the buildings and people crowding them to watch, that's pretty unique as well and ads to the fun. It also made a fantastic backdrop when DMB was playing there.

Show someone a picture of wrigley field and they know exactly what it is, show someone dodger stadium and they'll most likely not know it

EDIT: fuck the cubs. Sorry, there was too much praise for something related to them from me in this post.

The concourse at wrigley is disgusting.
I love Wrigley and I not a Cubs fan at all.
Wrigley has a feel to it. True,a lot of people go there just because it is famous. But it is understandable.

I'll go into this more tonight when I can. Gotta finish work.

I don't know much about college basketball, so I don't really know. I'd take Wooden though...Repeated success is real impressive, even back then.

    Re: **Deer Creek 2012**

Wrigley is awesome for a million different reasons. My favorite are the old school feel and being right in the city. most other stadiums are so far out in the middle of no where that it's such a pain in the ass. Also a reason Lucas oil is such a neat place.....

Old Commiskey, New Commiskey, Wrigley, Old Reds place, New Reds place, New St. Louis, Old Miami, Cleveland, New Seattle. Out of all those places Wrigley, New St. Louis, and New Seattle are all my top ones. The Garlic Fries at Seattle are awesome

I see Rozzss'szz point about losing but that doesn't have anything to do with the stadium.

Cubs fans, as a whole can be terrible.. . I went to a rooftop game with some Whitesox fans that are my friends, Vs. the Cardinals (so the biggest rivalry) 1-0 Cubs lead going into the 7th. As soon as beer sales shut off, at least 40% of the crowd left. Crazy to me, and I couldn't argue that a lot of cubs fans (or those that go to games) don't give a poo about the games.

I've also been to St. Louis for a cubs game - fun time, all the fans were really fun and bought my buddy and I a few beers prior to the game ( we also bought a roun).

Cincy sucks, no way around it. The fans that go to the game are great but the attendance is soooo bad

Saw the Cubs in Miami, talk about a shitty place. Maybe got 10000 there since it was the cubs, almost all cubs fans. I did get to see Kerry Wood pitch a 1 hit, complete game shut out which was neat! (back in 2003 by the way )

I've been to over 150 cubs games and the whole "beer garden" and fans leaving when the beer stops being sold just isn't true. And anyways, what's wrong with getting fucked up at a baseball game? Mostly it's the families leaving later in the game.

Also when the cubs are good none of this is an issue. When they suck like they do now, it all comes into play.

And, if Cubs fans were "terrible" then nobody would be supporting the team after all these years. I mean even young Cubs fans like me have been through terrible heartbreak. Sosa teams, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2009....I mean just heartbreak

I'm not saying that Cubs Fans are terrible, well, I may have. But, I'll say that being up 1-0 in the 7th against arguably your biggest rival (This was in May so before we were out of anything) and that many people are gone was sad to see. Obviously they get lots of support (I've been a fan since I knew what baseball was, damn WGN...) Saw them for the first time with my mom and her friend in the bleachers 1987, I was 9. Saw them a year later, double header vs. the Mets, I got a Cubs Bat pen I used to write all my homework with for years and a strange puppet squeaky thing. I obvioulsy love beers like the next guy, but there is a decent % of people that go to Wrigley just for the party/scene/to be seen/to skip work etc. And while you get that at a lot of places, it's more likely there.

Seasons when they are good people may stay for the game, but they aren't always true fans...

Yeah, some of that is true. But it sounds like you're basing a lot of that off 1 game against the Cards where fans happened to leave a little bit early.

And people are skipping work because of the high % of day games. Chicago tradition.

And the bleachers do get pretty fucking nuts (i have contributed to this many times) but that's just the nature/tradition of how it goes. Just because people are really drunk in the bleachers, doesn't mean they aren't engaged in the game.

Every team has it's fair share of idiot fans. The Cubs I think have a larger share than most teams but to give credit where credit is due in the case of the idiot (poor word choice I know) Cub fans, they are legit fans of the Cubs.

Speaking to the earlier argument about Wrigley it goes without saying that Wrigley does indeed have it's own fans. Exactly what the bolded says, it's a great time and attracts a ton of people based on that. Chicago brings in how many tourists? There are a shit load of tourists that go just to take in a game at Wrigley Field so they can say they have.

Agreed. Though there are a lot of Cubs fans. Cubs have insane fans. Like me!

Tourism is a great point, Jer. I can't count the amount of times where I've sat never to Detroit/Minny/out of town fans and showed them around the ballpark. Tourism is definitely a fair/great point to bring into this debate.

there are a lot of people that go to wrigley just for the party....i would venture to say that it's a higher concentration of people than at other ballparks...but i couldn't say that with certainty because i've only been to a couple different ballparks. I've been at wrigley when the whole crowd stays for the whole game and i've been at wrigley when people leave early in close games. i think it really just depends on the crowd at the game you attend. some games you'll have more diehards there, and some games you'll have more people just looking for a party.....

I met people in the bleachers last year who had just retired and were traveling to all 30 ballparks over the summer. Always cool to see out of towners at the game.

I've been at wrigley when the whole crowd stays for the whole game and i've been at wrigley when people leave early in close games. i think it really just depends on the crowd at the game you attend. some games you'll have more diehards there, and some games you'll have more people just looking for a party.....
I mean, this is only true because Wrigley is in a neighborhood. Tons of young people live in Lakeview/Wrigleyville, so naturally there's a ton of bars around. Which equates to people being there for the party.

If other ballparks had the same neighborhood as Wrigley, it'd be the same case.

Yep. I mean, the place means so much to me. Being born on the North side and living my early years in Wrigleyville are probably why. And going to lots of games every year.

I just can't think of a better place to take in a ballgame.
