I love the bitching about it. I was there: it was fun, well played, and left on a high note. There are so many people here with unrealistic expectations that it's hard to believe.

I was at the show and it was great! Jimi was a very fun closer, much better than SMLAM the previous year. FWIW, I like the sexy MF outro (it's awesome that Dave borrows from a variety of other musicians, including Prince). Has it possibly been overdone over the years? Maybe. But, people who were complaining about this year's tour should definitely consider taking a break from DMB and listening to other bands for a while. For me, I used to go to a lot of shows each year, but then over time, some songs became stale and I realized that I got a lot of repeats. Now, I just go to a couple each year. The chula vista show was great, the band seemed into the songs, and the acoustic / electric sets was a nice change from past years. Was I ecstatic to hear the LL? No, but they were only out for a few songs and did not ruin the whole concert for me.

We are lucky that DMB tours nearly every single summer for about 20 years, mixing in classics, new songs, and the occasional cover, while still putting out new albums every once in a while. We have a pretty large sample size of what the band likes to play, so nothing should be a surprise to any of us anymore. If you are not happy with that, then you may want to consider finding some new music.

I left early as well, could hear them play all the way to my car so that was cool.....got out of the lots quick so it was worth it to me.

Left early at Irvine too, SMLAM is worse than Jimi Thing as a closer, I was scared they may play one more after SMLAM but one look at my watch and I knew no way (curfew).
