The President couldn't make it to France to stand against terrorism. But hey, at least he had time for this....

Politics & Political Media fucking irritate me. I'm in the camp that i don't really trust either side, and think the whole system is beyond broken.

It's sad how fucked up the Internet has gotten.

Just doing basic searches, trying to download stuff, etc has gotten so difficult the Internet is practically unusable.

Keeping a computer clean is a full time task. This is a big opportunity for someone to come in and fix this mess.

Have you ever thought it was weird that if you get poo on you hands, you immediately use soap and water. But if you get poo on your butt, using toilet paper (which is essentially a soft napkin) is fine. I'm all about those baby wipes, at a minimum. Full shower and soap rinse on some occasions.

Probably due to the fact that your hands touch so many vital things (food, nose, eyes, mouth, keyboards, etc) whereas your butt doesn't.... Unless you make dinner with your butt I guess.

Gotta sassy up that resume with fancy words like 'transferable'. I mean, in reality, delivering pizzas is no different than delivering TPS reports. You're 'delivering' something either way.

In all seriousness, never let that 'requirement' deter you from applying for a job. The detail in your resume, how you get shit done, etc. is way more important than experience in that particular job.

    Latest one:

Dear TSA, when it comes to your airport 'agents' do they need to fail a basic intelligence and common sense test or just prove they made it out of third grade in order to get hired? There are 'villages' in the deepest jungles of Burma (or whatever they are calling that country this week) who's inhabitants have had no contact with the outside world for thousands of years where even the dullest 6 year old possesses more education and deductive reasoning skills than the simpletons and mental midgets you all employ! Thank both yourselves and DHS for so efficiently spending (aka WASTING) our tax dollars in order to give all of us no risk passengers (who are forced to pay, via taxes, all your inflated federal salaries and damn union benefits) the illusion of security; plus the additional harassment we are subjected to by these pinheads and utter morons your agencies hand out jobs to like free booze!!!!!!!!

Which is why I send in my resume, complete their prescreening forms, only to get an email back saying "While we are impressed with your qualifications, we won’t be moving you forward in the selection process. Currently, there are other applicants whose qualifications more closely align with our needs for this position"

I've gotten that one twice since Saturday, from two different companies, for two different positions I wanted pretty badly.

A lot of companies have filters in the pre-screen process, including prior experience, that automatically kick you out of the pool of people they'll consider if you don't meet them. While I'm sure it is frustrating to be on the wrong end of the process, it is a pretty logical way to initially separate candidates when many companies get hundreds of applications for a single position.

Right, so what am I missing here?

People are getting annoyed because companies look for applicants with prior experience in the position they're looking to hire for?

How is that irritating?? It's irritating that a company is looking to hire somebody that knows how to do the job they're being hired for???

only problem is when it's entry level and they want 1-3 years of something specific. we've all been there

Yeah, the pre-screen process sucks. I used to be a hiring leader and found a loophole to get past the 'pre-screen only' applications b/c, well, fuck pre-screeners. I always found it dumb to disqualify folks simply b/c they didn't have 'experience in this field'. How hard you're going to work for me is not going to be told by the experience you have.

You sort of need to find your own loopholes now as someone who's applying for a job... do you know anyone who works there? Can you manipulate one of the jobs you had in the past to align more closely to what you're applying for now?

no, it's irritating when EVERYBODY wants to hire somebody who knows the job, therefore leaving inexperienced applicants out in the cold with no way to get experience.

I know somebody at both companies. One of the companies is one of my closest friends who I've known for probably 7 years, and another friend of ours I've known that long but am not as close to.

The other company there's a guy I was friends with in HS but we've lost touch since then, so it's been 8 years since I've seen him. He put in a referral for me, but he's in a different dept. and different location so he couldn't really do MUCH.

How is that irritating?? It's irritating that a company is looking to hire somebody that knows how to do the job they're being hired for???
I would say it's more irritating when they are focused on a degree. I had 4 years in sales, but for a company that didn't care about me not having a degree. When we were downsized and I lost my job, there wasn't a sales job out there for someone with no college.
