Meet and greets!

i have been fortunate enough to be offered a meet and greet before the Saturday show in Nashville. Needless to say, I'm blown away at the chance of finally meeting Dave Matthews. My question is, what to expect exactly? Or does it depend on his mood on how everything goes? Will I have a chance to buy a show poster to get signed? The meet and greet is through a dreaming tree rep, not sure if it makes a difference

I'm not asking for song requests

Congrats on being able to. I remember when I had my meet and greet that the Dreaming Tree reps briefly met with Dave first before meeting with the Warehouse members. Jim, the head of security made a joke about them not being real fans and Dave would be with us shortly.

    Re: Meet and greets!

I've met him twice. Once was in 2002 and it was a meet and greet with a bunch of people. He basically went around the room and shook hands, took pictures, etc...It wasn't exactly the most personal time.

In 2015, I had a one on one session for about 30 minutes after the show in Atlanta. He was the most down to earth guy and was open to talking about most things. He spoke a lot about getting old and his kids, etc...

I guess, it just depends on what kind of function this is. Have questions/statement in mind, though. In 2002 I was at a loss for words.

Yeah, it was pretty awesome. We spoke a little about some of my favorite songs and the fact that he decided to bust out acoustic Stone that night (1st time since they started the acoustic portion). He didn't talk about the band really at all, but I didn't really ask, except that I told him my brother's name was Carter (unrelated to his Carter) and he said, 'Well, if he's anything like my Carter, he's a good guy''.

Really just want to meet Dave one time and shake his hand and ill be happy.

Would be really cool to meet Stefan and Carter too. I dont want to die knowing the only band member I ever met was Boyd

Sadly, I've never met Carter, but I did have a cool experience at Charlotte last year. He singled me out and kept trying to throw drumsticks at me, but people were standing on chairs and kept snagging them. After the encore, he walked to the edge of the stage and motioned with his arms as if to say 'give him some space' and he rifled it at my chest. When I caught it he gave me a thumbs up and was laughing uncontrollably. Still one of the coolest experiences I've had. I honestly have no clue why he did it, but it would be nice to meet him one day and say thanks.

I fan-boyed out SO badly when I met him, both times just act like he's a normal human being, unlike what I did haha. I just kept saying "Dave" over and over again. I was that guy. I think I just couldn't believe it, I was outside of myself!!

he did stop long enough to sketch on my shirt though, which was very cool. maybe i wasn't that bad

Hahah it's crazy how tongue tied and anxious you get. I always thought I'd be cool and collected, which I might've appeared on the outside, but I was going 90 miles an hour inside

My most prized DMB possession is my drumstick. Its actually one he used playing on Ants which is fairly rare it seems.

Made a sign and took it to hershey, he saw it but couldnt get a stick to me. Then the next night at PNC park he saw it again and tossed the first one directly to me. Still cant believe I caught it in a sea of GA people... and I was about 6-7 people deep in the crowd.

Totally!! It's so weird how one guy who none of us actually know can make us feel like that haha. I'm still gonna queue up for ten hours to see if I can meet him again though regardless I wonder if he gets the same thing meeting presidents and whatever?

I would first complement him on being one of the most creative rhythm guitar players/lyric and melody writers there has ever been. For a question I would ask what it's like to play with Carter. As a drummer myself, Carter's abilities are the ultimate, and his nuance and dynamic build are so crucial to making the live performances what they are. I've also heard Dave in interviews say he is always trying to impress Carter so I think it could spark a cool dialogue. Enjoy your time meeting him, however brief it may be!

Thanks for the feed back. Have definitely been thinkin through certain questions or just statements to be somewhat prepared. I know I'm goin to be really excited. But my main concern is, will I be able to buy a poster before hand? I was told it's before the show meet and greet. It would be nice for him to sign somethin I care about, other then some random object

At the very least, you'll have your ticket, which, if you get a poster afterward you could frame it with it.

I had a warehouse meet and greet in 2010 and did not have an opportunity to buy a poster beforehand. We were instructed to meet Daryl at the gate and then he took our group of about 20 backstage. I had brought R2T with me and had him draw on the cover because I can't do the magic eye thing. It was pretty cool, but as others said, not very long or personal.

Carter is the man when you meet him. I was lucky enough to meet him in Hartford in 2016 and he brought me on his tour bus and gave me a tour of it. We literally sat down in his bus and talked with a few other people. He then said, "I'll hook you up any time." Obviously I had no way of contacting him after he said that but still cool. Gave me some sticks too. Awesome guy. Met Rashawn and Jeff the same night. Not as in depth as Carter though.

Thanks again! I don't expect to hangout for an hour, I'm expecting short and sweet. Yal think asking about potential guests for the 2 nights is solid or avoid it? My bonaroo poster is signed by him and carter, so if I can't get a Nashville poster signed I'm goin to bring something unique potentially for him to draw on as well. There are a couple cool pictures in the bwgk bundle package. Any suggestions on cool things to sign non dmb related?

Met Dave twice, very brief but just watching his interactions with other fans I can tell you how great he is in those type of situations.

Nice! I was at that show, how did I miss him? Ha. I would love to meet Carter. He seems so genuinely happy and enthusiastic every time he's with fans.

If I met Dave, shook his hand, and was able to simply say, "thank you" I would even impress myself.

It was pretty cool. Dave is super down to earth. Came in with a wine glass full of casa migos tequila and lime lol.
