Damn. I knew he was struggling with health issues for some time.

    What a legend.

Damn. I got to work with him once, his signing my vinyl copy of Live at Filmore East was the start of my "wall of fame" (signed lp's of acts I've worked with). He was a nice guy and put on a hell of a show. Even back then though his health wasn't great, what a life he's led though.

Was so lucky to see him on "Melissa" at MSG in 2009. A true pioneer for sure. I wonder if D&T will play any ABB songs in the next week or so.

    Funny story.

As far back as I can remember my father has hated Gregg Allman. They ran in some of the same biker bars in Florida and claims Gregg cheats at pool.

http://imgur.com/gallery/a0KeH I put this on reddit and i'll share it here too. My dad was hired for a short time in the 90's to keep him off drugs, and be his bodyguard in a sense. Here are some candid Gregg pics. My favorite story from this time was that he was instructed to give Gregg just enough alcohol to keep him satisfied and knock him out after every show

Yeah this one definitely hurts. Saw the Allmans back in 2005 & 2006. Amazing shows. My parents saw them in 1972. True legend lost and personally some of my favorite music of all time.

Yeah, I too was pretty stunned when I saw this on the news. I knew he was not doing well but figured he would bounce back. I have so many fond memories of seeing the ABB it is astounding. First time I saw them was early 1995, a friend and I scored a pair of tickets to see them at Radio City and that place was absolutely jumping, when they broke into Jessica I can swear that place was literally shaking the crowd was so pumped up. Seeing them numerous times at the Beacon (and other venues) was always great too but I am not sure I will ever have a more memorable concert image than my first ABB show with a crowd of people getting hammered and stoned inside the very nicely decorated Radio City. RIP Greg!

I took this photo when I worked the show with Gregg Allman and Friends. It's always been a "Greggs B3 rig!!" photo. After today, the emptiness makes it take on a more somber tone.

My father introduced me to the Allman Brothers at a young age. When he got out of the army, they were just blowing up. He rode a motorcycle all the way from NY to AL to follow them on tour. He owned every album and we listened to them a ton. After several months of estrangement, my father called me the other day to have one of these, "We don't have long on this Earth" speeches. RIP.

Gregg and the ABB were my dad's favorite for my years and I'm very grateful that we caught plenty of ABB shows over the years as well as a few GAB shows the past couple years post ABB. Gregg still sounded great at the Raleigh gig last summer with Frampton.

Never really liked ABB, but he was definitely a talent. Has not been a good year and a half or so for music.
