Song Predictions

So I decided to give a little DMB song prediction for Hartford, CT N1 and N2...Mostly because they are the first two nights of the tour...

My thoughts going in are that we will see 6-7 Big Whiskey songs per night for the summer tour, and that 3-4 of them will be doubled up each night on a two-night stopover. Also, I always put in for songs to possibly return, which may not happen in 2010, or at all soon (You Never Know, Hello Again, Long Black Veil), and included some that have recently returned in Europe 2010 (Big Eyed Fish, Sugar Will, #27, Loving Wings). I am well aware that the odds of all 7 of the above songs being played in two nights to start a tour are very slim...But, Dave loves Hartford and we usually get great shows and 1-2 randoms each night/stopover, so maybe not all 7, but plug in songs like Satellite, One Sweet World, So Much To Say, Too Much, Proudest Monkey, Stay and Where Are You Going into some of those 7 slots if it makes you feel better...

NIGHT 1
1)Still Water (Tease)-->
2)Don't Drink The Water
3)Seek Up
4)Funny The Way It Is

N2 would take like 4 1/2 hours, but I like the sets.

Probably like we have seen in past tours. Something safe, like what they played in Europe this winter. Once everyone complains and thinks the band is not as good this year as they were during the _____ touring year, they will drop a set that will silence the critics, and turn a corner. That may not happen until SPAC this year.

Ya but thats like a week into the tour so its not like we will need to wait long for that corner..its just how long they stay on that turn afterwards.

    Re: Song Predictions

They're gonna start the tour very safely, as they start every tour. SPAC is early in the tour which could either be good news or bad news. Good news if they play an awesome show there and the rest of the tour picks up after that. Bad news if they haven't built their momentum yet and SPAC ends up having very typical setlists. i'm thinkin something like this for the tour opener:

    N1:

    Proudest Monkey ...>
    Satellite
    Funny the Way It Is
    Seven
    Shake Me Like a Monkey
    Big Eyed Fish
Lying in the Hands of God
    Grey Street
    #27
    Don't Drink the Water
    #41
    Ants Marching
    Corn Bread
    Jimi Thing
    You & Me
    Stay
    --------------------------------------------------
    Baby Blue
    So Damn Lucky
    All Along the Watchtower

    N2:

    Shake Me Like a Monkey
    Bartender
    Stay or Leave
    Squirm
    Funny the Way It Is
    Sugar Will
    Seven
    Crush
    Where Are You Going
    Everyday
    So Much to Say
    Spaceman
    You Might Die Trying
    Burning Down the House
    Crash Into Me
    Why I Am
    Tripping Billies
    ---------------------------------------------
    Sister
    Two Step

    hopefully they'll prove me wrong

anybody who thinks they're going to play 6-7 BW songs every night is stupid. there is no way they play that many.

They gave the impression that they love those songs. I wouldn't be too sure...

while i agree with you since that's what they've done in the past, i think it'll be different this year. dave likes an even mix between old and new, and i don't think he can connect to anything new besides Big Whiskey, YMDT, and SDL. Let's face it, we're not gonna get any sets that are more than 50% big 3 material. And since Everyday & Stand Up aren't getting a lot of play, all that's left is Big Whiskey to choose from so they're probably gonna fall back on that a lot.

Less Big Whiskey won't mean more classics, it'll mean more Everyday/Stand Up. Is that what we really want?

I disagree with that; they've pretty much stopped playing those albums for the most part. By 08, how many SU songs were they playing consistently? Two or three? How many ED? One or two tops. How many UTTAD, Crash, and BTCS songs were in the picture? Much more than that. They've pretty much stopped playing ED and SU, whether it's due to them not liking the material as much or listening to how much fans don't like them.

As for what the sets will look like, I think it'll probably look like 2006 or 2007, with BW songs as opposed to SU songs. I took the Nissan show from 06 and made a few little changes. I don't know if this'll be the exact songs we see, but in terms of new stuff, rarities and crowdpleasers I'd imagine it'll look like this.

    What Would You Say?
    Everyday
    Stay Or Leave
    Squirm
    Alligator Pie
    Grace Is Gone
    Louisiana Bayou
Lying In The Hands Of God
    Bartender
    Sugar Will
    Grey Street
    Dancing Nancies
    Crash Into Me
    You & Me
    Typical Situation
    Shake Me Like A Monkey
    Pantala Naga Pampa-->
    Rapunzel
    ========
    Pig-->
    Stay (Wasting Time)

I think that'll be the basic idea.
