What the hell heated discussion went on in a television thread that caused its deletion? Locked, OK. But deleted?

People were probably talking about how terrible Louie is, and then I'm sure all heck broke loose.

I have absolutely no idea. I had posted early in the day, but I forget what, then when I came back several hours later it was completely gone. Again, the mod who deleted it repeatedly acknowledged they were just having a bad day and it was probably an overreaction to delete it. I mean in my now 8 years of seeing this site, I feel like it's pretty rare a thread's actually been deleted, as opposed to just being locked, but there you go.

And I feel like even now I'm making this sound way more cryptic and weird than it really is, but I think it's just best if I not explicitly say which Mod it was, unless they want to come in and talk about it.

That's the plot point I meant, yes. It wasn't just who was involved, it was that the person would have done that with ANYONE. Seems like a high-risk, low-potential scheme on which to hang all your political aspirations.

Everyone upset with him for wanting to keep the peach water tower up?

Yea... because (especially southern and/or midwest rural) Americans never unreasonably react to an extreme situation. I have no trouble whatsoever believing the people of a small town could potentially act that way.

and to echo what I said over in the show's thread, particularly now that I've been finished it, I never said it was epic or groundbreaking television or anything like that. But it was highly entertaining and I consider those hours well spent just fine.

well yea of course it was a stretch, but I think that was kind of part of the point. That many of those people would react that way, especially still so soon after the incident. Plus remember, they had that one local guy who wanted to compete for Frank's district in the next election in their ear the whole time, being more than willing to help spread the word that it was somehow at least partly Frank's fault, or just really painting him negative in any way.

I felt the same way. I know it was an excuse to get him back in his home district, but they could have done better than that.

Almost done the first season of House of Cards. Excellent show, although Spacey's character has just crossed the line for me. Can't empathize with him at all anymore.

Probably my favourite scene this season is the one with Underwood and his old friend in the abandoned library. Most likely because I could empathize with him then.

I had posted all of this in the old television thread and wanted to maintain some way of referring back to and comparing it for future reference. My favorites of 2012:

Click the "Show Spoiler" Button to reveal hidden text.

I had also broken it down by acting categories but deleted all of that already. No way I'm going to sit down and redo those rankings.

NBC is doing great. Horrible idea for a shows fails after two episodes, and now Christina Applegate leaves her own own.

Can you guys fucking spoiler House of Cards? Jeez. Or go and make its own thread.

Was just about to post the Applegate thing. Best part is them not canceling the show and thinking about replacing her with Kudrow.

So I was just looking at this story about Josh Holloway landing a potentially regular TV gig in a CBS pilot called Intelligence...

    http://www.deadline.com/2013/02/josh...-intelligence/

    Quote:
is centered at U.S. Cyber Command and focuses on a unit that has been created around one agent with a very special gift — a microchip has been implanted in his brain that allows him to access the entire electromagnetic spectrum.
Can someone help me out here? I guess I'm stupid, I'm not sure what exactly "access the entire electromagnetic spectrum" is supposed to mean.

In real life it means nothing or is way off from what the show will be. I'm guessing he can use computers with his brain or something.

If CBS didn't have football or 60 Minutes I can honestly say I'd never have a reason to watch a single minute of that network. Their content is that atrocious. Bland, uninspired cop/doctor/lawyer procedurals. Lame multi cam sitcoms. They pile garbage on top of garbage and win the ratings wars by massive margins every single year.

I'll say this, though: CBS has a chance to do something great with Under the Dome. Turning that book into a serious could be a game changer. My guess is that they turn it into a valid 22-episode procedural rather than limit it to a 10 episode miniseries, but I'm willing to stay optimistic.
