Out of the 3 songs released Signs of Life is the one that I think is going to have to grow on me. Not really feeling it right now. But ive become I little bit obsessed with Creature Comfort.

Irish journalist Nadine O'Regan hints Arcade Fire are sneak-releasing their album next week - July 14th!

Hopefully not some kind of Tidal exclusive stream.

listened to everything released thus far a few times - sorta incoherent, bland, and meaningless lyrics.

    Creature Comfort
    Everything Now
    Electric Blue
    Signs of Life

I have a +1 for tomorrow night's (7/27) show in Brooklyn but there's a catch...There are two types of tickets. Priority (those who definitely get in) and then General (a certain amount of people who get in AFTER the Priority line concludes, and then based on your position in the General line). Meaning the earlier you get there the better. I have a General ticket with a +1. I won't be able to leave work until 5ish either...

I held off on hearing everything but Creature Comfort and Everything Now until listening to the album in its entirety this morning. As much as I hate to say it, I have to fall in line with the lackluster critical reviews. I'm not even sure how I'd personally rank the rest of the band's discography, but I'm certain this is their worst effort. The highs aren't as high (although I fucking love Electric Blue), the lows are much lower, and while the front and back ends of the album are its strengths, the middle portion (Peter Pan through Infinite_Content) is absolutely brutal.

"Chemistry" and "Peter Pan" are probably the two worst songs they've ever released, and they are back to back. There are some songs I like, especially "Put Your Money on Me" and We Don't Deserve Love", but I would agree that this is their worst album. I wasn't really impressed with any of the 4 singles, so I didn't have high hopes going in.

Listened straight through on my drive home last night and again on my drive in this morning. This is not good. Creature Comfort is probably the best song but still, really a disappointing effort here.

While I agree with everything you say here, I find it hard to believe you do not have an Arcade Fire album ranking list queued and ready to go at a moments notice....

Actually, I'd venture to say their ranking and chronological order would probably be the same. I wouldn't fight someone putting Suburbs above Neon Bible though. Those two are fairly interchangeable as #2 IMO.

I have lists for most everything, but they're tough to rank.

    If pressed:

    1. Funeral
    2. Neon Bible
    3. The Suburbs
    4. Reflektor
    5. Everything Now

So just by order of release. How boring.

    Great minds.

If anything though, I might swap The Suburbs and Reflektor in the #3 slot. The latter is probably the tighter and more cohesive record overall, but the former includes more of my favorite tracks.

Gotta echo the previous posts. Listening through for a second time. It's pretty disappointing, and the promotion, if you can call it that, was pretty obnoxious and annoying. My two favorite tracks are probably We dont Deaerve Love and Put Your Money On Me.

The album also just feels short. Maybe it's that they gave us damn near half the album weeks ago and two of the previously unreleased tracks are Everything Now snippets or whatever. Too bad. It's taken the wind out of my sails for the MSG show, I was really looking forward to it and now it just feels meh. I'm sure come show time I'll be excited again though.

He was walking up and down the line to get in saying hi to everyone. Shaking hands, taking pictures with people, thanking them for coming to the show. This was actually my second time meeting him. I had met him a few years back as well.

Re: The Arcade Fire Appreciation Thread...

Not a bad looking set all things considered. It's unfortunate that two slots were wasted on Chemistry and Signs of Life, but that's to be expected with a new album out. I'm seeing them at Lollapalooza on Sunday, and I hope they stack Electric Blue and Sprawl II like they've occasionally been doing in recent shows.

After a weekend of listening, I'd rank the Everything Now tracks as follows:

    1. Electric Blue
    2. We Don't Deserve Love
    3. Put Your Money on Me
    4. Everything Now
    5. Creature Comfort
    6. Good God Damn
    7. Signs of Life
    8. Peter Pan
    9. Chemistry
    10. Everything Now (Continued)/Everything_Now (Continued)
    11. Infinite Content/Infinite_Content
