WTF?! Why do people always leave out Busted Stuff?

It is definitely a good album. Having said that, it's only my 4th or 5th favorite DMB album.

Because in that parallel universe, tLWS/BS just never happened. In that universe, its development was so bad, it never even developed into a studio session.

Because at very best it's mediocre, and compared with the Sessions it is an attrocity. IMO.

    Art can't be objectively good!

    Comma dammit

However, I will concede that this is entirely contingent upon your definition of "good"; if you mean technically speaking, then yes...BWGK IS objectively good. Sonically pleasing to a universal audience, though? Not possible, and therefore no. Be more precise, dawg!

Hmm. You are extremely hard to please...

The only two mis-steps I could possibly see with Busted Stuff are the changes made to Captain and Raven's lyrics... everything else is gold for me.

I think ALL DMB is good. IMO it goes

    Crash
    Busted Stuff
    Under the table
    BTCS
    Stand Up
    Groo Grux
    Everyday

I also LOOVe his solo album and would rate that the same is BTCS

I think Big Whiskey is a Good Album.

It's a diverse album, and the drumming is really good by Carter.

It's infinitely more impressive than Stand Up.

My hope is that the band understands that they've finally made a step in the right direction. All bands change. DMB is no exception, despite the fact that the fans want them to remain in the early to mid 90's.

However, Everyday & Stand Up represented change in the wrong direction. Now that they have finally made a step in the right direction with Big Whiskey, I am excited for their next studio effort. I think the band feels good about this album, too. And the band certainly knows it has been much better received than Stand Up. I think that motivates them. They now have something to build on for their next album.

At least, that is my hope. That the next album will be even better!

While I think BW is better than "good" (Carter's work alone elevates it above good), this is a solid post.

I don't think it was as great as "The Big 3" but at the same time I think it's solid. Definitely an album I'll be listening 5 years from now. Agree with others that Carter was amazing on this album and his drumming alone makes it worth listening to.

Of course this comes from someone who still listens to "Stand Up" and "Everyday" every once in a while.

Yes. Carter's drumming is fantastic, the production is great, and Dave is at least trying to write good lyrics.

More importantly, it's got good flow and is a cohesive yet diverse album.

It is a pretty good album that hasn't gotten old to my ears.

Overall, about 1000 times better than Stand Up, 500 times better than Everyday, and much more interesting than Busted Stuff.

yes, its very good. i think its more a sign of great things to come for DMB, not their 'last hurrah' as some may think. i think its easily better than Stand Up and Everyday, but not quite on the level of Busted Stuff or the Lillywhites. But its a very enjoyable album that has some borderline great songs on it (Why I Am, Funny the Way it is, Shake Me, Lying in the Hands of God, Squirm), and i think it could prove as the precursor to another truly great DMB album.

Grey Street, Captain, Raven, You Never Know, Big Eyed Fish, and Bartender, regardless of their LWS counterparts, are FAR from mediocre. Had we never found out about the LWS busted stuff would be celebrated as the great album that it is.

LWS was great. we know that. but they didnt finish it. So we have busted stuff, and it has some absolutely fantastic moments on it. Just because its not as good as tLWS does not mean we DMB fans should continue to bitch about it. I love Busted Stuff and every song on it, i just wish real hardcore dmb fans could just get over the lillywhites.

yes i would have to say it is, but im weird. it is tied with prolly BS for my fave album. im an odd dmb fan cuz i came in 2002, and everyday was the first album i bought and i liked it. i was naive and didnt no any better. that said, it and SU are at the bottom like everyone else, however i dont hold BTCS as the holy grail everyone else does. but i def like UTTAD, Crash, and BTCS better than ED and SU, no doubt.

Still a good album. I think that when writing the songs for the next CD, they should kind of forget about Tim and write songs that aren't built around his riffs. I mean, don't ax him completely, just make it so the songs COULD work without him. Because here, if Tim wasn't there for a show, the BW songs could suffer signifigantly. Don't make Tim the main focus.
