Morning Gorge.
Decompression is going to take a few days, and I'm not sure there is enough coffee in the world to keep me awake today! It always takes me FOREVER to re-hydrate post-concerts, add in the flights and the dry desert air and I feel like human jerky.
Everything about this weekend was amazing.
Everything.
Jenn's crew was exceptionally welcoming of "The Canadians" and we are so grateful for that. Cards Against Humanity really brought us all together on Wednesday night, but I will admit that once the group started growing on Thursday I started to lose track of who was who and stuck more to the people I knew. Jenn (of course), Stephanie, Megan, Shel, Becky and her mom Cathy, Zac, Handy, Misty, Jonah.... What awesome people. So great to meet you all!!! That BFC is amazing, friendly, warm, welcoming, a pile of hard-partiers, but also HUGE! The Alice in Wonderland party was SO MUCH FUN. Thanks for making that happen, Jenn!
Wildhorse was beautiful, totally lives up to the hype. Wildburgers and Breakfast Burritos really were super delicious, but there's something about the heat and excitement (probably mostly heat) of the Gorge that somehow made me not hungry a lot of the time! Did anyone else find that? Wish I had eaten more Wildburgers anyways! That grass... those open-air showers... The energy... <3
I also met a girl at Wildhorse who went to my same high school -- we actually graduated same year! I think there were maybe 60-80 people in my graduating class, from a small city in Southwestern Ontario... WHAT A FUCKING SMALL WORLD! We didn't know each other back then (she's a year older) but holy crap we knew so many of the same people... it was eerie.
The Premier crew were also truly amazing. So glad I got my cats herded over there on Saturday afternoon. Thanks Becky and Stephanie for your help! April's friends felt like my immediate soul mates, especially Simone. Vodderville was beautiful, like a sprawling hippie commune of chill happiness and love. Russ' hugs are something else, and so are his tie-dyes! Cheryl, James, Mike -- thank you for making those amazing tacos, so so so yummy! Can't wait to make some of those for myself! GORGE TACOS!
The shows. THE SHOWS. First time pit for us (N1 and N3), and Jeff wants to never not do pit again. My heart is there with him, my feet are a bit skeptical...
But Holy Carter
those shows. Acoustic solo Watchtower. Takes my breath away.
(Plus, for those of you who know Battlestar Galactica, I was in my BSG Starbuck costume for that, it felt SO eerie!) Loving Wings! The Stone! That BOWA! Scott got his LBV! LIOG with a reprise! Minarets! That adorable little Sweet! OSW! SPOON!
(I've been chasing that one down for a long, long, long time...) Even That Woman's set were good. Much less country-focused than when we saw her a few years ago, and her Fleetwood Mac cover was awesome. We only saw her N1 and N3, and it was pretty much the same set, but she definitely rocked it!
I don't want to go into the Ladies.
So great to meet Ash as well!
(who is apparently my stalker!) Such a sweetheart, thanks for coming over and saying hi!!!
It was very hard to leave that place. So much magic. But my bed and my pillows and my clean sheets were calling me (still are!) and it feels good to be home.
GORGE 2015! LET'S DO THIS!
