***Official Gorge #LoVE 2014***

I felt like it took me a day to get into my comfort zone. Thanks or everyone for being so cool, chill, nice, fun to hang out with etc. loved hanging with the premier crew! So much to say. Russ your wife is awesome. April your friends all rock. Andy and Austin, your wives rock. Mike your friends provided some good entertainment! Ashley (Ash) you are so sweet and helpful! Thanks to Ryan for being the dizzy bat leader and leading the troops in the glow stick war. Thanks to the WH crew for making the trek to camp and have tacos with us (and thanks to. Mike for helping make taco night a success!) wish I had gotten to meet Ed, Brad, Jenn, and more. Trip was way too short.

Lastly we scored posters to all 3 ntrs and the caravan poster so that in itself should be considered a success. As the other Mike told my husband "your commitment to posters did not go unnoticed". So many great memories!!!

Edit: I already knew Andy and Austin were cool from the threads, I just meant it was fun to meet the ladies in their lives.

I think one of the most amaZing things for me was knowing so so so many people. I'd go for a pee break or to pick up a beer and I'd hear my name called and get sucked into five different conversations and hugs and high-fives on my way back to my seat. I loved that feeling so much!

I have never felt so completely welcomed into a community. You are all amazing. I can't thank you all enough for that.

    I miss Russ' hugs.

It was great meeting you. Thanks for finding our flags and coming to say hi. LOVED that American flag. And it certainly helped us get back to camp more often than not,

    Re: ***Official Gorge #LoVE 2014***

Just returned back to the Midwest from my first trip to the Gorge so I thought I'd post a review of the maiden voyage:

Camping: our crew of 11 jumped on Wildhorse passes and I'm so glad we did. The site is top notch, the Wildburgers and breakfast burritos were worth the hype, and the overall community vibe was something I don't feel can be duplicated at the other camping sites. Our neighbors were awesome and we had a blast interacting with others on site. We never felt we had to lock up our belongings when we left for the shows, and I heard from several people that the regular camp sites got raided multiple times. Everyone was super laid back at WH...will definitely be staying there on the next trip.

The venue: not much to say here...it exceeded my expectations and then some. I knew how special cresting the hill would be, but seeing that view for the first time through my own eyes was breathtaking. I don't think the scenery could ever get old there. And the sunsets were spectacular!

Night 1: this might've been the night I had the most fun. We had an excellent spot on the terrace lawn and just the fact that it was my first show at the Gorge made it something special. Loved DIDO electric opener, BEF, Crush jammed, GGT for the first time, and even enjoyed the YMDT closer. What a way to start off.

Night 2: probably my favorite overall setlist. We were in Warehouse lawn which gave us plenty of room to dance. The opening electric run was perfect. Spoon was my second favorite performance of the weekend. I enjoyed the LL's as I thought the song selection for them was about as good as it could've gotten based on previous sets. Loved the encore as well with the Too Much fake>Halloween.

Night 3: we were in Pit which was incredible and a perfect way to cap off the weekend being so close and interactive with the band. The acoustic set was perfection and the best of the summer IMO. The band was so tight and having a blast, and the energy in the crowd was top notch. Watchtower acoustic as an opener was incredible, and I loved getting Grace, Loving Wings, and Typical. During set break I had said to my crew the electric set could either be super special or end in a trainwreck. BOWA opener was perfect and it was great to finally here LLD and I actually really enjoyed Cornbread with the help from DRH. Unfortunately I felt the set began to slide after Jimi. I'm sure being completely wiped from the previous days had an impact but I wasn't feeling the energy from the band and once the LL's returned it was very predictable. Just as I was feeling slight disappointment once Some Devil began, boom! the Stone! This was the one song I came to the Gorge chasing and it finally comes in the second-to-last slot of the weekend. The version was incredible with the crowd participation in the outro...just a perfect way to end the Gorge run (I'll pretend SMLAM didn't happen...too excited from hearing Stone).

Overall Impression: a life changing experience. As I was boarding the plane in Spokane I couldn't help but think of how special these sorts of trips are. It reminded me just why I travel all over the country to see DMB. I've read arguments over setlist vs. experience and the overall experience of the Gorge trumps any setlist argument hands down. Seeing the shows are just a bonus IMO, a special way to top off a day of camping and tailgaiting in the middle of nowhere with thousands just stoked on life. Being with friends old and new sharing the common theme of a love for a band is really powerful when you think about it. The crowds at the Gorge were the best I've ever been around, everyone was so nice and into the music which doesn't happen anywhere else. Hope to see everyone next year and for years to come!

I also just wanted to say thanks to everyone for such an amazing weekend. I have been a fan for so long and I finally made the gorge trek. Not only was the band amazing but so were the people in the crowd. The wife and I loved it. Great chatting with you guys and gals.

    Morning Gorge.

Decompression is going to take a few days, and I'm not sure there is enough coffee in the world to keep me awake today! It always takes me FOREVER to re-hydrate post-concerts, add in the flights and the dry desert air and I feel like human jerky.

Everything about this weekend was amazing. Everything.

Jenn's crew was exceptionally welcoming of "The Canadians" and we are so grateful for that. Cards Against Humanity really brought us all together on Wednesday night, but I will admit that once the group started growing on Thursday I started to lose track of who was who and stuck more to the people I knew. Jenn (of course), Stephanie, Megan, Shel, Becky and her mom Cathy, Zac, Handy, Misty, Jonah.... What awesome people. So great to meet you all!!! That BFC is amazing, friendly, warm, welcoming, a pile of hard-partiers, but also HUGE! The Alice in Wonderland party was SO MUCH FUN. Thanks for making that happen, Jenn!

Wildhorse was beautiful, totally lives up to the hype. Wildburgers and Breakfast Burritos really were super delicious, but there's something about the heat and excitement (probably mostly heat) of the Gorge that somehow made me not hungry a lot of the time! Did anyone else find that? Wish I had eaten more Wildburgers anyways! That grass... those open-air showers... The energy... <3

I also met a girl at Wildhorse who went to my same high school -- we actually graduated same year! I think there were maybe 60-80 people in my graduating class, from a small city in Southwestern Ontario... WHAT A FUCKING SMALL WORLD! We didn't know each other back then (she's a year older) but holy crap we knew so many of the same people... it was eerie.

The Premier crew were also truly amazing. So glad I got my cats herded over there on Saturday afternoon. Thanks Becky and Stephanie for your help! April's friends felt like my immediate soul mates, especially Simone. Vodderville was beautiful, like a sprawling hippie commune of chill happiness and love. Russ' hugs are something else, and so are his tie-dyes! Cheryl, James, Mike -- thank you for making those amazing tacos, so so so yummy! Can't wait to make some of those for myself! GORGE TACOS!

The shows. THE SHOWS. First time pit for us (N1 and N3), and Jeff wants to never not do pit again. My heart is there with him, my feet are a bit skeptical... But Holy Carter those shows. Acoustic solo Watchtower. Takes my breath away. (Plus, for those of you who know Battlestar Galactica, I was in my BSG Starbuck costume for that, it felt SO eerie!) Loving Wings! The Stone! That BOWA! Scott got his LBV! LIOG with a reprise! Minarets! That adorable little Sweet! OSW! SPOON! (I've been chasing that one down for a long, long, long time...) Even That Woman's set were good. Much less country-focused than when we saw her a few years ago, and her Fleetwood Mac cover was awesome. We only saw her N1 and N3, and it was pretty much the same set, but she definitely rocked it!

I don't want to go into the Ladies.

So great to meet Ash as well! (who is apparently my stalker!) Such a sweetheart, thanks for coming over and saying hi!!!

It was very hard to leave that place. So much magic. But my bed and my pillows and my clean sheets were calling me (still are!) and it feels good to be home.

    GORGE 2015! LET'S DO THIS!

    Good Morning, Gorge.

Currently on a plane headed somewhat towards home. Blah!

I finally broke down and bought the Spusta print. Over payed, but whatever.

Finally got my full band The Stone! Anticipation had been building up over 27 shows. It was so freaking good. I feel the need to commemorate that moment in tattoo form.

I'm very happy to say that my brother absolutely loved all three concerts, as did I. I honestly have no complaints. Nothing happened that I wasn't already anticipating, so no disappointments occurred for me.

Also, I'll be the first to admit that I really liked Cornbread and Jimi. I never actually disliked either of those in the first place.

I'm glad I got to meet some of you all, though the trip to premier didn't happen for me. I was completely ready for the D9 trip, but somebody changed plans without informing me.

Sorry, I'm kind of rambling cause this plane ride is god-awful boring.

My wife and I want to do a New York to Washington road trip next year for this. Not sure how to go about organizing, but planning must begin soon.

YES! We totally lost our minds for Cornbread N3. What a performance!

Sabrina, it was so great to see you again and meet your brother. Sean is pretty awesome! So glad you both had a great time!!!!!!

I loved how nuts the place went for Cornbread and Jimi. My feet were so sore by Jimi that I didn't dance my ass off as much as I should have, but the energy was insane. <3

    Safe journey home!
