I just saw the first Christmas commercial of the season. You would think it was like, December 4th...but I just checked the calendar and it's October 29th.

    October.

    29th.

Ugh, it's going to be a long two months

Coincidentally I was feeling nostalgic and found a 1985 Sears Christmas Wishbook online and was browsing through that. Saw they had a cordless phone for $100! When you think about what a smartphone can do and with inflation, $200 for a phone isn't bad by today's standards.

They also had a VCR for $379 that in not so many words used pirating movies as a selling point. Something about their record play feature allows you to watch your favorite movies while simultaneously recording them.

There is an American Flag on the wall along with maybe a nice 8pt buck or turkey fan. The counter tops are made of a rich hardwood and 'credit/debit' is not an option for payment. Oh yes. This is where the men go. This is where they bring their sons and boys learn what it is to be a clean cut, respectful gentlemen. This is where men politely discuss current events or sports, perhaps even jokingly complain about their significant other. The barber shop is a sacred monthly ritual.

If you have missed out on a place like this, I feel so sorry for you.

A.) There's no reason to feel sorry for anybody if they haven't.

B.) Did that come straight out of your US Army Private Hand Book or something?

    B) No, but thanks for the insult.

I can see Jeep Kids point. There is something to that barbershop experience. I had a barber years ago, and because of him, I dumped my electric razor and have been using a straight edge ever since. He was an old school barber, used a electric and hand snips. He'd finish your cut with a straight edge on the back of the neck and your side burns. Sometimes he'd even smoke a pipe while cutting your hair. He would ask first if it was o.k. I didn't mind. He started to decrease in quality so I found another barber and he just kept raising his prices. Awesome cut, but not worth $35. The last barber I went to was actually a female. She was good, kind of cheap, $20. She tried to give you the barber shop experience. Then one day I had an epiphany. I thought, why am I paying $20 for something I can do myself. So I bought a Wahl trimmer. I use the 1/2 guard all around then jump in the shower. At the end of the shower I shave. After all that, I pop open a cold beer and look at tits on the internet. Life is good.

The service industry is a fucking joke these days.... 95% of the time I go through a drive through something like this happens and/or the order is wrong when the bag is handed to me. It's a fucking joke.

That rate goes down exponentially at CFA. I rarely get a wrong order there.

I also get irrationally pissed when they keep asking "ok will that complete your order?", especially after I've ordered one fucking thing. Yes ma'am, I came to mcdonalds just to order a McDouble and that's it. Motherfuckers

Best breakfast sandwich on earth is a bacon/egg/cheddar on an everything bagel from Bruegger's.... followed very closely by a bacon/egg/cheese biscuit from McD's.

I like cinnamon raisin for s/e/c bagels too. I prefer cinnamon/sugar or French toast bagels for that purpose, but cinnamon raisin will do in a pinch. The salty/sweet combo does the trick.

As much as I love the holiday season, and take no issue with commercials airing now like the poster above, I agree with you. It's overkill in terms of "Black Friday".

You want to open at 4am on Friday - be my guest... leave Thanksgiving alone.

As it is Thanksgiving is a formality after 10/31, please just leave the day itself alone.

It's the best holiday of the year.

I agree. I really really love thanksgiving. NFGs about Black Friday in all honesty, but seeing it creep further into holiday time is really pitiful and I disrespect people who are gearing up for it.

The whole black friday tradition, I actually never got, how long has it been going on? And before it was an actual thing...did that many people just wake up the next day and go Christmas shopping?

    Re: What irritates you?

Not sure, but I love Black Friday just because my family and I have been going out shopping that day, every single year, since my first memories. I enjoy it. Everything about it, the crowds, the weather, everything.

However, like I said, leave Thanksgiving alone.

Meh, I understand the disdain for it. But if you're like me, you're more than likely at home or the home of some family all day on TG anyway to care what people are doing out and about.

You couldn't pay me to go to a retail store on Thanksgiving or Black Friday, so I couldn't care less when/if they're open on those days.

I don't shop on those days either, but it sucks for the employees that have to give up their time with family so people can fulfill their materialistic needs at the hopes of a good deal.
