Do You Like U2?
They've been brought up a few times in the past few days, with wildly varying opinions.

I'd like to know whether or not you like U2, and to explain why or why not?

I personally love them, and consider them the only real threat to taking over DMB as being my favorite band. Their music brings such varying emotions out of me, and I love about 95% of their music.

I think Bono is pretty douchey, but in a weird way it kind of adds to the music for me. His overbearing earnestness when he goes on political rants makes the songs that much more real to me, just because I know it's from the heart.

So what say you, party people?

    The only songs I've heard that I can tolerate are I still haven't found what I'm looking for and trip through your wires. The latter being a song I really really enjoy.

    But I've heard a lot of their other stuff and I do not like anything else.

    i think theyre a really good band. they have good albums. they have good songs on the radio.

    The opinions seem rather polarized to me, which is what I think the general opinion is out there. People are on extremes. Seemed like Bo wanted to start a discussion (OP asks "Why do you like/dislike?").

    Love them. All That You Can't Leave Behind defines a period in my life and was a bonding moment for my Dad and I. Don't listen to them as much as I used to.

    They're probably the only band I've tried to get concert tickets to that I was shut out of. A friend of mine called with an extra a week before the show in late '05 (fuckin Kanye West was the opener.. no shit) and I was treated to one of the baddest live performances I've seen.. by U2 Those guys really know how to work a crowd!

    I haven't liked much of what they've done since Achtung Baby. I do enjoy their earlier stuff. I don't like running the risk of listening to the Emancipation Proclamation, or whatever political rant happens to be going on when going to a show.

    I like a few songs okay but have really only ever heard the radio stuff. Nothing of theirs has ever made me want to dig deeper into the catalog. Plus they always get brought up as a legendary band which I guess they are, but that plus Bono's douchieness makes them annoying to me.

    Honestly, I'd really recommend getting into at least the "big" albums they have. Very worth it, IMO.
