My parents live in Woodstock,NY and whenever I run into CVS when I am visiting, this dude, whats his name Aaron? is allllllways going on about literally nothing. Last memorable time I was there I was waiting on line while he was going on about his ranking of all the gum at the register. There is a pizza place near by, pretty hip, but does takeout, and he makes the most pointless coversations with the people at the register adding about 5 minutes to the whole process of doing takeout. I don't care who you are, fuck off with that kind of shit.

My friend just turned me on to ween recently. Dont know many songs by name so suggestions of songs or videos for someone just getting into them would be appreciated mucho. Is there a name for their fans? Because if not, I suggest 'weenies'. You could be a big weenie or a hardcore weenie.

Right now I have 'bananas and blow' stuck in my head.

There was some pretty good recs a page or two back. But start with their albums Chocolate & Cheese, The Mollusk, Quebec and Live In Chicago. Gives you a pretty good drop in the water of Ween.

they got hosed on this set, bonnaroo made them stick to their set time and not go over. it was bullshit and a clear message that the bonnaroo of old was dead.

Bonnaroo is horse shit. I know people that still go and they do the whole scenester/hippie shit and it's like lolz you're going to see some rapper. Just because you sleep in a tent doesn't mean it's granola.

Glad I went in 2012, lineup was killer. After that? Just gets worse and worse every year. It's so sad

I would say that this has been true since AT LEAST 2006 (meaning 2006 was still solid lineup then massive increase in shittiness from that point forward).

I remember going in 2005 when I think they lineup/scene was still jam-centric and very good, and even then the folks who had been to the first few were already saying it had jumped the shark. I think that was a bit rhetoric, as the original Roo intentions seemed to still be there. And for what its worth I had an amazing time in 2005. But by the time I went back in 2009 (essentially solely because Phish was there and I was doing most of leg 1 summer tour), Roo was beyond repair. Still some good music to be seen, but much more bullshit to sift through and the scene had already started to go to hell (and started is an understatement). That was enough for me, and I knew I would never go back.

But even though I went in '09, to me 2008 was the year Bonnaroo died. Metallica as a headliner act? Metallica represents the exact opposite of pretty much everything I stand for musically, and pretty much the exact opposite of the initial Roo lineups. Not to mention Kayne at the top of the bill. Horrid. I can't even imagine it now. Eminem. Lol.

It's become a joke but one positive side is that people are seeing live music that probably hardly ever go to shows. I don't care how shitty the music is I love seeing people go to shows. It's great for the industry and gives hope for upcoming artists.

Holy hell last night was fucking off the chain. Indescribable energy in the Tabernacle. Deaner was on his absolute A game last night. Whole band was but Deaner especially. Very metal, heavy set list. Beacon Light instantly become one of the best moments of any show I've ever been to. She Fucks Me went super long and peaked heavy. So much fun.

I am extremely happy they are back.

They’re almost impossible from an entry point standpoint because every album is so different.

That said, The Mollusk and Chocolate and Cheese are both outstanding start to finish. Quebec and White Pepper are also great. As you get earlier in their catalog you’ll start to hear some really weird shit - The Pod and God Ween Satan are fucking out there.

Live in Chicago is a great way to get a feel for their current(ish) live sound. Great set list too.

They are so fucking weird. I’ve seen them play back to back nights at a festival before and the first night was fluffy and euphoric and joyous. The second night dark and weird as shit. So put on your psychonaut hat and buckle up cause you never know what you’re gonna get!

They’re from my home town so I’ve known about them for as long as I’ve known music. I think it’s great that they’re back, healthy and still have such a following. I was back reading this thread when it got bumped and saw someone say that no one would know who they were if not for Phish. Couldn’t be farther from the truth.

No one would know Ween if not for Phish? I don’t even understand that premise. Although I guess there is a fair amount of cross over between Ween fans and jam band fans. I’m not entirely sure why but I do fall into that category.
