Re: DMB Record Store Day 2017 (4/22/17)

Is the black version going to be a wide-release or just like the previous LT's where they put it on the DMB store? Also, someone mentioned they heard it would drop sooner than later, any ideas as to when we might see it?

No-one knows when it's going to be announced, but Bullmoose's product description says "Black vinyl will follow" and it's a Legacy Recordings release (Sony's catalogue division) so we presume it will see a wide release through all retail channels.

Excuse the Vertical Video Syndrome, I recorded it for posterity and for audio purposes only.
That's a nice repeater going on

Are we thinking 10,000ish or closer to 20K similar to the studio albums?

I'm pretty sure anyone who wants the black vinyl version will be able to get it.

Looking at the RSD then Warehouse model:

    LT1 RSD - 500
    LT1 Black - 1,000 (Came 2 months later)

    LT2 RSD - 1,000
    LT2 Black - 1,500 (Came 1 month later)

    LT3 RSD - 1,000
    LT3 Black - 1,500 (Came 1 month later)

    LT4 RSD - 2,000
    LT4 Black - 1,000 (Came 2 months later)

    LT5 RSD - 2,000
    LT5 Black - 1,000 (Came 1 month later)

If they go off the LT model, it will be 1-2 months from now.

Looking at the subsequently released amounts:
LT1 - 2 times as many as RSD
LT2 - 1.5 times as many as RSD
LT3 - 1.5 times as many as RSD
LT4 - 0.5 times as many as RSD
LT5 - 0.5 times as many as RSD

It seems like the black vinyl runs have been lessening by percentage when looking at LT releases. So if we are to assume 3,000 copies of RR95 were released, the black vinyl cut (if following the LT model), could be 1,500 copies or less.

But, this isn’t an LT release. So really who knows when the black vinyl will come or how many they’ll make. Who knows if it'll be Warehouse only. Who knows if it'll be DMB store only. So all that stuff above may not even matter. But that's precedent from what we've seen so far for similar releases.

I would hope it will be more in line with the Recently model. Do you remember how long it took for that one?

Yeah, I don't think that the LT series is a good barometer for this. This is a Sony Legacy release - the pressing is going to be more on par with UTTAD/Crash/RTT.

Recently released November 28th, 2014. There were as many as 6,184 pressed (they said 4,500 pressed, but we saw higher numbers reported). It went on sale at the Warehouse December 9th, 2014. So pretty quick after 2014’s RSD Black Friday.

This is what I'm hoping for. I really don't feel like putting a ton of effort into getting this but I would really like to have it.

Looks like Turntable lab is starting to put their leftovers up. Jason Isbell is up on their site if anyone was looking for that. I saw it up, but got no stock email

I have a stock email alert for TTL, I'll buy one if they pop up for sale for anyone that missed out.

    That's my assumption too.

Recently was Legacy also but it was an EP, so I don't think it's a useful gauge for Red Rocks.

The only difference is this would be a second pressing, because it's on black vinyl and not the limited edition silver like the RSD release. That's why it's so hard to predict!

I had a stock alert set up for Jason Isbell's album....never received the alert, but the album is up. Just trying to say RR95 might go up unannounced, so if anyone is real desperate, may not be a bad idea to check in on this every now and then.

I just want to say thank you for this recommendation. Called them this morning and they put me on a waiting list. Just got a call that they secured some more. Getting it to me for $101 shipped. A little pricey but much better than buying it on Ebay. You can remove me from the list.

Good looking out and I would give them a call if you are still looking.

I called Central Square around 4pm this afternoon and was told I was #10 on their waiting list, and they were expecting 12 in the next few days. So there might be a few left.

I had said that, and I'm doubling down on it after listens 2 and 3. Especially the first two disks, he's perfect. Perfect clear sound, you can hear him modulating his breath around the notes, total Roi perfection. It somewhat makes up for only hearing Stefan sporadically and in certain keys due to what sounds like a weird EQ cut.

    Bullmoose updated theirs today: http://www.bullmoose.com/p/24805635/...-quantity-2500

It says "SOLD OUT" now, so either they don't have extra, or they sold out quickly if they did.

Thanks Chad. Yeah this seems like a stretch for RR to get turned around that quickly. I guess we'll see.

North Dartmouth isn't far away. I didn't realize they had a Newbury there. I don't think I can get there tonight, but will go tomorrow.

Unfortunately they're 1670 miles drive from me, otherwise I'd offer to go check for the ISO list.

My local store called me yesterday to tell me that they are getting more copies this week. People looking to get a copy might want to call their local stores and inquire about a second shipment.

    Chad- if you're tracking, I have #1200

AT-LP60 - It's not the greatest player in the world, but I definitely have a bad copy.

Side C is also problematic. Two Step jumps all over throughout. Stuck in a groove, recover, then skips all over the place. Best of What's Around also jumps around starting half way through, but finishes strong.

Side F - Billies skips throughout, honestly not listenable for the majority. DIDO has various skips, not nearly as bad as Billies, but obvious.

Side G - Rhyme and Reason several skips early and in the middle. #36 skips throughout, steadies near the end with no issues in the last few minutes.

Side H - Ants skips almost immediately and then jumps around the intro for several seconds. Much like Billies, not listenable. More of the same as the lyrics start and throughout the remainder of the tune. Typical is fine, but Watchtower has at least three skips. One just as Dave sings "Princes kept..." and another one right after during the "yeah, yeah yeah" bit. The third one is right as the song ends.

    Reported, we'll see.

I bought two copies of Recently that skipped in the same place every time on the LP60. I have the LP120 now and neither of them skip at all. Just FYI. Doesn't seem you're the only one with this problem but the turntable could be contributing.
