~~ Official Kentucky Derby/All Racing Thread YEAR TO YEAR ~~

We are 10 days away from one of the greatest American sporting events. I cannot wait. I am big horse racing fan and it's just another reason to love summer.

http://www.kentuckyderby.com/horses

It looks like Union Rags is the favorite at 9-2.

It should be a good one!

I love the Kentucky Derby, although I consider it a gambling event, not a sporting event.

Derby day is a holiday in Kentucky. Well, Central Kentucky at least.

I was suprised when I moved to Evansville, IN that no one had a derby party!

Does anyone around the country have a derby party?

I've never been to a derby party, but they sound pretty fun. I've also never had a Mint Julep, kinda want to try one. Next Saturday would be the perfect time to

A Mint Julep is a drink, brah. You drink them on the day of the derby. It's a cocktail.

Of course, my bad. Have you ever been to a race? I've been to Keeneland when they were working out horses and I've taken a tour of Churchill Downs, but never been to a race, unfortunately.

I was at Keenland last fall, and was at the Carolina Cup this year. Will be at Steeplechase if everything goes according to plan! I love me some horse racing.

Damn, that's awesome. Keeneland is so badass. I really want to go a race one day. It's illegal in Georgia, of course. The closest track to me is in Florida I think.

Seeing the twin spires at Churchill Downs gave me chill bumps the first time I saw it. It's amazing how much history is at that track.

I love watching the Oaks too. Turf track is realy fun to watch.

That's awesome. I really liked Keeneland. I still rock my hat I got from there about 8 years ago. I would love to go to the horse sale they have there.

The gambling is, so there's no racing I think we have steeplechases though, but we have some dumb laws here regarding gambling.

Does Nick Zito really not have a horse in this race? That's odd, he's usually has a horse in the Derby.

Union Rags has 3 wins and has never finished lower than 3 in his first 5 races. He's already won at Belmont and Saratoga.

I see why he's the favorite now.

One of the two horses that beat Union Rags in the last race will be at the Derby. Take Charge Indy won it. El Padrino came in 4th.

Ah I see that now. That was the most recent in the Florida Derby. This should be really good race. I'm getting pretty excited for Saturday.

New favorite in the race: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-400_162-...in;contentBody

    Bodemeister at 4-1.

I'm still liking Union Rags though. Or maybe Gemologist who is at 6-1.

Dumb question, but can you bet online for the Derby, like on their website? I've never bet before and would love to start this weekend?

My buddy is giving me 4-1 odds on Bodemeister winning the race. I'm giving him 2-to-1 odds on a horse starting in an even-numbered position will win the race.

    Should be a treat.

Made the bets today at tampa bay downs. Got 11 trifectas going. I like the 5 to win, but i got about 6 different horses on top of a bunch of combinations. Think im due to hit one of these
