Boyd on Howard Stern Wrap-Up Show

Boyd and Michael from Crystal Garden were on the Howard Stern Wrap-Up show today. Long Story short-

-The band plans on touring again in 2018, he has no current plans for 2017
-His favorite venue is the Gorge
-He definitely recognizes fans who comes to multiple shows
-The band "doesn't really" soundcheck anymore
-Go see Crystal Garden tonight in NYC tonight and meet the band after.

They still have a rehearsal room where they practice. The lack of soundchecks has more to do with going to the same venues every year and being able to save the sound settings in their computer system (unless I'm mistaken).

They still have to work stuff out, like Oh Sister, Gulf Coast Highway, My Antonio, The Maker, etc. All the guests. Raven. They are just lazy sometimes when it comes to liberations/TDs.

At Syracuse Dave said he hopes to come back. I don't think he would say that if he knew this was the last year.

Yeah I dont know why we wouldnt take them for their word.

This is now twice Boyd mentioned to media they will be back in 2018.

Clearly things can change, but I fully expect them to be back.

Thats bullshit. The guy is a founding member of the band. He knows whats going on.

A fan asked him about it at one of his weird gathering things after a show last summer and he had absolutely no idea what the guy was talking about.

Correct! (I'm an audio engineer). Speaker placement, wouldn't change much from year to year so for every venue that they've been to a few times they should have a mix they are comfortable with saved and all they have to do is load it up.

Having said that, all sorts of other things can have a small effect on the sound. Not really a big deal until you add fifty small effects and end up with a big difference in sound. I noticed that the sound at about half of the shows I went to was pretty lackluster. Nothing really shined except Carter's kick and Tim's guitar was far too shrill many times. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the hell out of all the shows, but man would I give anything to mix for them for just one song haha.

Bumped this in the chat threads the day it was on. Man he's a sweet sweet guy, but that was a super dull deal. Like someone said, Dave on Howard would be really interesting.

So, seems like Stern has a good segue to start asking about Boyd, seeing as he was on the wrap-up show not too long ago. Very interested to hear what comes out, if anything.

A lot can happen in 2 years I guess!
Not sure if the fact that Howard met with Boyd back in 2016 will mean that he'll remember that meeting and bring it up in his interview with Dave...

Overall... This is sad... I miss Boyd and his violin on stage. Topping this thread just reiterated that fact.
