I doubt there was ANYONE who left that three day weekend anything but satisfied. The tour might not have been 10/10, but man will I miss DMB is this was truly it
It's been confirmed several times that isn't their last show.

It's not like they don't do anything. Their product is music and they release a shit load of it geared towards US. Not the back of the lawn crowd. Really they're doing fine. They didn't have to put out that video. It makes no difference to their marketing and they have nothing to push right now
Content marketing is not about having something to push. It's an always on strategy that serves a very long-tail purpose, and the DMB does not do a great job with it outside of the summer tour warmup series.

Agreed. And like you said, it plays a factor in bringing in new fans.

The snapchat thing doesnt surprise me. They cant even get twitter right. Like, you cant even have someone posting songs as they are played, or putting up some pictures from each venue?

Very basic twitter fundamentals that aren't followed.

It literally takes one person to do that. Crazy they dont have any interest in it.

And they have that photographer Rene Heubner (sp?) following them on tour right? Let her post a picture or two each night that she likes.

Snapchat is a huge missed opportunity though. They could easily show some simple behind the scenes stuff, or crew setting up during the day to drive some kind of following/excitement, but they just dont do it.

Well said. I always wonder about the makeup of the marketing team that works with the DMB.

While there are some very solid things like summer tour warmup, I always wonder how if there's talented people that meet to discuss this stuff, how more great ideas (some low hanging fruit ones like you just said) don't come out. Or they do and no one wants to execute? Fascinates me. Working for any band even with the ballpark of their stature seems like it would be a dream from a marketing perspective. So much content at your fingertips to create ideas around.

Yeah this kind of stuff has made me very interested who heads their marketing. You have to think its someone who is very old school and doesnt have any interest in new media.

I really don't think they make an emphasis on marketing at all. The tours sell themselves, or did in the past...., and the band has a fan base that just shows up and buys stuff. I think they could do much better if they wanted to, but it probably costs more than it's worth to them. I fully believe everyone from the band to crew to management is making the money they want to every year, and would only change things if incomes went grossly out of shape.

I would say that the only thing they do a decent job of is their Instagram page. Call me crazy, but I also think they could do a lot more with merchandising. I think they place most emphasis on the posters, but to be honest, that's not for everyone.
