Yup.

By the way, for anyone planning to order...Sweet Briar shipped my CD almost instantly, so the shipping appears to be much faster than musictoday as well.

That's the gimmick of it all. Unless you want the digital version, musictoday has come up with a way to make extra money off the fans. I don't support it, but unless we all stop buying it, it's not like they are going to all of sudden just release these products to Amazon, or other retailers for cheaper. The only reason they do so with major releases is because they know they will sell many more. But your average or casual DMB fan is not interested remotely in buying 38 live releases. We're the suckers, and they know this. I prefer to buy the digital copies because it's my way of not supporting how they take advantage of us.

I think in 05-07 the shipping was ridiculously cheap. Like 3 or 4 bucks. I remember buying Radio City DVD and CD with the bonus material from Musictoday for like 25 bucks or something including shipping.

Even that isn't ridiculously cheap. I swore off buying from musictoday years ago. They're literally the worst. I haven't looked back since.

Do you not buy releases like Live Trax or Sweet Briar at all then?

Me too, most of the stuff I buy is digital downloads.

I take a hit when there is a video release because they've been the only ones selling the last few directly.

Listened to this again today. I can't get over the power behind Dave's acoustic playing. I really miss hearing his guitar during shows. What he can do with just his voice alone and an acoustic guitar never ceases to amaze me. This is a time capsule worth owning.

Yeah, it gets alittle irritating but I think that's part of the charm of this release.

Couldn't agree more. This feels like the closest I will ever come to just hanging and burning with Dave while he jams out his best stuff. Getting to hear the songs stripped down like this is incredible; really makes you appreciate his ability to write profound rhythm, lyrics, and melodies.

Absolutely. I will never stop being amazed by his talent. And actually, I found that as I was listening to this recording, I was thinking "how on Earth did Carter come up with the drum lines for this" - particularly Two Step and LIOG. For some reason, listening to it stripped down on this recording gave me a greater appreciation (again) for what the rest of the band created as a group. It doesn't get much better, IMO.

I imagine this was recorded with the same two-track recording equipment lugged around with the band during this time? Making it essential a multi-track recording that can be released as a non-DMBLive release.

Totally agree with you about Carter's grooves, they are the perfect match. Dave comes up with these crazy rhythms and Carter always nails the groove, which is usually equally crazy and complex; like The Stone, Carter lays down this ridiculous syncopated 6/8 groove behind Dave's amazingly complex guitar part and I'm blown away every time. The whole band is phenomenal together, though as much as I appreciate how good Jeff is on sax, Roi had this subtlety and soul to his playing that was also a perfect fit. I almost tear up sometimes listening to his old solos cause he just bares his soul through his playing. Thankfully we have all the recordings we do of him.

I think this my favorite post I've read on Ants...sums up very well why I fell in love with this band

If it was sourced from the same "two track" equipment, then that would mean the two tracks are the left and right channels, not the guitar and vocals. They would still be unable to mix the vocals and guitar independently.

I'm not saying it's impossible they would release it this way, I just think it's unlikely.

Lots of good ones on here, but LIOG sticks out to me as one of the best. Some improved lyrics sprinkled in nicely.

Gem of a release. It feels like a personal concert, even just listening to the recorded version.
