Re: SPAC Setlists Contest (with prizes!)

The actual mini-setlist from the nine possible songs:

    Stone
    Say Goodbye
    Pig
    Fool
    Halloween

Four Ants picked all five songs played, but bigeyedpigs did it in the least number of songs picked - 6 (in other words, the fewest misses of those with all five). So, he is the winner.

I realize I probably did not make it as clear as I could have in terms of some of the groundrules and tiebreakers. Saturday morning I was thinking that I just should have used the formal Ants setlist games rules (not sure exactly how that works, but it counts the number of songs correctly picked, songs spotted exactly, and some kind of penalty for overpicking (like selecting all nine songs in this mini-contest and only five were played). If someone has the time and interest, that would be fun to see if that process would yield the same answer.

I'll sit tight for about a week or so to see if anyone has a challenge to the judge's decision.

We had 17 entries. Kind of surprised we did not have more, but whatever. Seemed about almost everyone picked Stone, Pig, Fool, and Say Goodbye. A couple people nabbed Typical as a debut. Almost everyone (or maybe every one) had multiple encores at least one night. I think there were 28 songs each night. I watched a good portion of N1 via Periscope, but did not pick up on any weed references (save for Jimi lyrics). Not sure about N2, but I did see a few people comment that there was not much Dave-speak in general N2. The real sets were good( N1) and very good (N2). From a setlist perspective, as usual, I had my hopes probably too high. Was it N1 where Dave talked a bit about a couple of people in front getting engaged, or maybe just married? I was about 99% certain that he was then going to bust out IBYU (would have been a perfect placement and sent the couple to the moon), but Dave, the consummate showman, did not carry through.

This was fun for me. Maybe I'll do it again for the three-night Gorge run in 2018.

I guess I didn't realize that order of the songs was not actually a part of the competition but was only a tiebreaker.

sorry. as stated above, I could have been a bit clearer. But, when it comes to who was the closest ( only needing 6 picks to nail the five played is closer than needing seven picks) I think my decision was consistent with my first post. Was just wanting to have fun with the SPAC sets and not cause any consternation.

I'll score it tonight while watching the Merriweather set. I'll do it in a Google doc and post the link.

Same rules as the game: 2 or 6 points and -3 for over picking. 10 points for spotting opener or closer and 6 for calling closer; with the opener and closer being the first and last to show up in the set.

Wow, just a quick check, if I understand the setlist rules, may show BrewCrew romping. jenhen27, I'll look forward to your feedback.

Yeah, as the Donald would tweet: game is rigged. SAD!!

Sorry, guys/gals. Was just something I quickly thought of Friday morning - more for a diversion for my SPAC setlist watching than anything.

Since the offered prize was decent, I probably should be temporarily banned from this site. Plus jenhen officially has me under investigation for obstruction of Ants justice. I'm going to refer all questions to my personal attorney.

Actually, trippinbillee out to get some kind of reverse achievement award. How in the heck do you score a -2?!

It was a couple that got engaged. I yelled for IBYU, because as you said it would have been perfect. Guess I wasn't loud enough, but the people around me thought it was a winning idea.

    Amazing weekend.

Re: SPAC Setlists Contest (with prizes!)

As I mentioned/admitted, my rules were not thought out real well. Since about four people hit all five songs, but based upon a differing number of total songs picked, I did not specify an adequate tie-break process. I initially declared bigeyedpigs the winner, but then I delved a little deeper and realized that BrewCrew15 had what looked to be the best all-around entry by a considerable margin. I then reviewed (for the first time ever) the setlist game scoring and became more convinced. jenhen27 then confirmed BrewCrew's utter dominance per the official setlist-game scoring results. Much thanks go to jenhen27 for her expert assistance (except that bigeyedpigs might not be too thrilled).

Due to the mass confusion I created with the unclear rules and an unfortunate premature declaration of a winner, an emergency session of the judges panel was convened. After much handwringing (and constant bickering as to the best set of the tour and much complaining as to why Chicago only got one of these nine songs), it was unanimously decided to revert to the standard, customary and universally accepted setlist scoring by this official site. BrewCrew15 is the winner (for real this time).

BrewCrew15 has seven days from 9pm Central Daylight Savings Time today, 19 June 2017, to PM me on this site to acknowledge his victory and provide me with a street mailing address. If he fails to do so in the proscribed time and manner, he will be disqualified and the winner will become the second place finisher as determined by jenhen27's setlist scoring.

    Hey, that's me!

I would be remiss if I did not apologize to bigeyedpigs. I apologize, bigeyedpigs.

I know that it is a long-way off (and not sure to happen), but I am already planning a new and improved contest (with more prizes!) for Gorge 2018 (unless I end up going, of course).

Much thanks go to jenhen27 for her expert assistance (except that bigeyedpigs might not be too thrilled).<br>

Wait you came up with a contest, with your own rules on how to determine who wins this contest and then someone else determined the rules should be different, so you decided to change the scoring to suit that persons idea, after you already determined a winner by your scoring? But hey oh well.
Hey I appreciate the apology no hard feelings, honestly. It was just something to do while I drank morning coffee. Why did you include fool to think in that pool though that confused me? I've always personally liked the song but found it odd it was lumped with the others?

I feel your pain. I can send you the flag if that is any consolation? Fun contest none-the-less...

No that's okay, I have one I'm still trying to figure out where to hang. Thanks though, congratulations on winning. I just did it for fun anyway.

This was a fun idea but the rules seemed like a train wreck from the get-go. Never give people too many options.
