There are also some great photos of the trip up on the official FB page (run by CID)

If you stayed at one of the other resorts they had shuttles arriving and dropping you off at the venue entrance, so once inside with your show bracelet (they were RFID festival bracelets) you could eat and drink at the show.

Each resort had their own food setup post show for when you left and went back to your resort and were hungry.

For example a lot of people enjoyed the Hard Rock and it was just 5 mins away... similar price point but a smaller property and better food. They still had about 800 fans staying at the Hard Rock.

Only benefit of the host resort was being onsite and being able to walk to the shows, they also had in/out privileges. All of the poolside music was at the host resort- the Barcelo- as well.
To add to this and others, we stayed at Barcelo and I believe CID ran the food and drinks inside the venue which is I think why it was so well run and the food was good. The Barcelo buffets on the other hand were utter shit except the made to order omelets. That's really our only major complaint though.

We had reservations for dinner each night: seafood (not very good), Mexican (excellent) and Italian (very good).

This was our first all inclusive experience so we don't have anything to compare it to, but buffets aside, it was a great experience.

Pro tip: the best tropical drinks use fresh (squeezed) fruit, while Barcelo uses the fake flavored stuff. So we took fruit like bananas from the buffet to the beach and had the bartenders throw them into the blender to make our own Dirty Bananas, orange crushes, Big Bamboos, etc.

We ate at Tokyo, Kyoto, and the Italian place. The hibachi was amazing. Italian not so much.

Believe it or not we did an all inclusive in Punta Cana and the food was way worse.

In general all inclusives don't have amazing food. If you go in with that expectation, you're generally ok. Any of the buffets with made to order stations were good- the omelettes, tacos, etc. there was always plenty to eat.

Some of the tropical drinks were way too sweet but you can't beat the self service beer stations. Mudslides were great too. So many good drinks!

I sent an email to CID Entertainment asking if there was a way to just buy the show tickets since we'll already be at the resort for the week, I sent along our Expedia confirmation showing that we booked the resort in April, and they told me the only way to get tickets was to buy one of their resort packages.

So, any ideas on how to get tickets? Although the thought of three straight shows would be great, the reality is that we'll probably only look for tickets to one of the show nights.

Or I guess we could just listen close to the roped off venue....
Hey there Dave and Tim Riviera Maya friends....

I wanted to give my two cents on the week(end) for a guy and his wife (and two daughters) that were on property all week but didn't have the lucky bracelets to get into the shows.

    A couple of quick thoughts:

    1) We are extremely thankful to have AWESOME friends who we vacationed with. We had six (one family backed out) families all together there (11 adults, 13 kids) and we all had a great week (we went Mon-Mon). Our friends were awesome because they while they are DMB fans, they aren't quite as big fans as we are and they watched our girls every night so my wife and I could go down and watch each show from the rail fence at the back of the venue. We could still see the stage, the sound was great, and we met some other fans who either decided to book directly with the resort who couldn't get the package through CID.

    2) Everyone we met throughout the week were fantastic. How couldn't they be given the environment? I'll admit, it was difficult watching everyone with their bracelets on, sitting on the beach with their orange D&T towels, but it was worth it given the surroundings...

    3) A very nice person let my wife use her bracelet on N3, so she got to go inside for the last hour or so of the show. So, at least that provided her with an up close experience.

As many others have posted, the resort was incredible (did you snorkel with the sea turtles down on the Palace end of the resort???), the drinks were plentiful and you never had to wait at any time of the day for more than a couple of minutes, the food was decent enough, and the weather couldn't have been better.

It rained as we were leaving yesterday and we all decided it was Mexico crying that we had to go back home... Would definitely go back again.

    Cheers!

Saw this on Youtube. These people are sitting at the VERY very back of the venue area - back past the food, bars, merch, bathrooms - for a D+T show it's amazing how great it sounds that far back. Not sure how this compares to the people who sat near the beach/venue fence.

    Wow.

For a long time, I've felt this way about all things Dave:

    Nothing Gold Can Stay

    by Robert Frost

    Nature’s first green is gold,
    Her hardest hue to hold.
    Her early leaf’s a flower;
    But only so an hour.
    Then leaf subsides to leaf.
    So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
    Nothing gold can stay.

I had almost forgotten the thrill of it all from back in the day.

Watching this brought me full circle. Very moving.

    Thank you.

Had an absolutely unbelievable experience in Mexico. Made so many new friends, who are like family now. The music was of course amazing and the sound on that beach is so clear and crisp I was blown away. I'm still on a high from this days later.

The sound was amazing. We floated out in the ocean near the tropical building and could hear them sound checking recently and fool to think so clearly!

The sound towards the back was much better than up close, from where I was able to get to. I just hung back by the sand castle the whole time. Not the perfect view, but perfect sound. Except for N3 when people wouldn't shut up.

Yeah, I was never up front super close. Night 2 was just in front of the sound tent. The others just kind of hung out with friends towards mid back area. They really have it set up for great acoustics.

Confirmed there were TWO tapers... the one guy came from GERMANY (Sergey) and said they soonest he could even get to them was March 11 (maybe he's doing some other traveling) but he said there was another guy named Paul who also taped. God bless those guys!! What a sacrifice for the DMB community.

Let's just hope they surface in time!

There were a million people taking cell video... they all keep posting it in the FB group and I keep asking them to post it to youtube.

I mean, if everyone is going to stand there recording the show on their phone, at least share it with the public!

Dave singing with Carlos Varela - really weird to watch him sing w/o playing the guitar. He has no idea what to do with his hands lol (I realize he's also just trying to keep the beat but still funny)

Thought that was pretty funny too. Couldn't stop thinking of Will Ferrell in Talladega Nights, "I'm not sure what to do with my hands."http://speakingpractically.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/rickybobby.jpg

Sorry if this was already discussed... but out of curiosity, how early were people in "line" to get towards the front in these shows? Thinking of the Gorge shows where lines form at the crack of dawn to be on the rail in the pit...

People were nuts. I know for n3 people got in line after the shows n2 and camped out.

I went down to the pool around 8:00am on Sunday and the line was 40+ people deep.

To wait for a regular full band show after spending $100 makes sense to wait at Hartford or another venue... but to spend $3-4K and wait all night and day and not enjoy the pool and beach... wow

Agree. If I am spending thousands of dollars on a vacation, I am going to enjoy my vacation and not spend my whole time camped out on a beach. If that means I am towards the back of the beach to listen... who cares.

How many people were at each show in total anyways? 5000-6000?

    Oh trust me I agree

There were about 5500 ppl there, or so they say.

I went in around 6:30 each night and we were all the way up the beach by the first palm tree. Had a fine view and plenty of space around us

By noon Sunday the line was several hundred deep. What they did was carry beach chairs from the beach and made a line of loungers down the walkway between the beach and pools. Totally not for me, but I guess they laid on beach loungers and servers came by on drinks all day. Some people came down to the pool while waiting- I guess they took turns holding spots? I don't know. I'll find some videos and photos of the line situation and share later.

It was the best pit line: drinks were brought to us all day, we went down to the ocean and to the pool a few times. We were numbered, and didn't stay away too long.

I get what y'all are saying about how expensive the trip was, and wasting the day away in line. We had a blast, and I'll definitely miss it the next time I try to get railed at a summer show

Ha I know- going to find the videos of them bringing trays of drinks to the people waiting in line

By midday Sunday I was watching the servers and I was like, well if you're going to wait in line, waiting on the beach with servers bringing you drinks is the way to do it!

Ansley and I were debating whether or not to do it, since we were in flippin Mexico and all. We decided that we wouldn't have been there if it wasn't for the shows, soooo...

And I'm sure I speak for both of us: it was totes worth it
