Ok, Trent. It's 2004. Let's get this album out there relatively soon...

Eh, not for me. I can't go see NIN live because my husband hates them, and I don't have anyone else to go with me. If you go, you'll have to post a review.

I am excited about the prospect of a leaner, less cumbersome album though. The Fragile is not my favorite.

Just go to one alone...it'll still kick ass. The show I went to, I spent most of it alone cause we got seperated. It's still great.

And your husband sucks.

Oh man, I totally would but I'm just not that confident of my safety. I'm a *really* small person and am easily crushed in a crowd. Plus, guys ALWAYS harass me. : Maybe I should hire a big burly guy to escort me.
Or get some kind of cushy sky box or something. I'd love to see them live - I listen to And All That Could Have Been at least twice a week, and the energy is great.

Anyway, I'm excited for the new release. How long has it been since a studio release?

EDIT: And he doesn't suck but he does....never mind.
Yeah, we have totally different tastes in music.

Still a fan since PHM came out. There's a NIN/David Bowie show on the shn newsgroup, its a kick ass soundboard recording (the poster's name is Wizardry), fwiw from 1995 i believe.

Re: NIN fans

2000 was the last studio album
Cool thread. I got into NIN in 1991 when Head Like A Hole was on the Buzz Bin on MTV at the same time as RHCP "Give It Away" and Live "Operation Spirit (The Tyranny Of Tradition)"
As that was the period 1989-1994 when I was enjoying hallucinogenics from time to time I can safely say that PHM was the most interesting music I had ever heard. Every song was brilliant; Something I Can Never Have being the one that always made me shudder. I used to play Sin, Head, Ringfinger and Kinda I Want To an awful lot in Cayman when I DJ'd the "Progressive Night."
I first moved to Canada in 1993. Went to Molson Park in Barrie in summer of 1994 for a one off show. Soundgarden and NIN were touring that year so they played the same venue that August. The linup was
1) You Am I
2) Marilyn Manson
3) Pop Will Eat Itself
4) Reverend Horton Heat
5) NIN
6) Soundgarden
PWEI and NIN stole the show. Keep in mind that PWEI had just released Dos Dedos Mis Amigos on Trent's Nothing label. Soundgarden were nothing to look at or listen to after seeing NIN. I did, in all fairness, see 'garden again at Lolla in 1996 before Metallica and they made up for it trifold.
Seeing NIN for the first time was very emotional. I never thought that music could be played live. Listening to Downward Spiral for the first time, wow!, you know? All the sounds going in and out at the same time. Fragile had some great songs on it. We're In This Together Now, The Great Beyond, Starfuckers, La Mer, The Wretched
On the topic of And All That Could Have Been.......
If you haven't experienced this in DVD format (particularly the DTS version) find someone that has it, and a home theatre system and you will have the complete NIN live experience!!
My NIN shows
Aug 1994 - Molson Park
Dec 1994 - Maple Leaf Gardens (met Trent the night before and got my Downward Spiral CD signed - he showed up where I was DJ'ing)
Summer 2000 - Maple Leaf Gardens
All brilliant. I wish they would mix Downward Spiral into a 5.1 DVD audio disc. That's one of the most intricate discs I've ever listened to.

I have the original version of Pretty Hate Machine - the one he demo'd to TVT to get his record deal. I also have the full Woodstock (76min) show. I can certainly b&p them for anybody.

The new album will be called BLEEDTHROUGH

If anyone has never heard some of these cool trance(y) remixes by Calx - here is a link to 6 NIN downloads remixed by him, not on any official release. I was sure they used to have about 50 different remixes available for free d/l on www.9inchnails.com but they seem to have dissappeared?!? Anyhoo here is Calx's link.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the links to the downloads. Sweet.

We've been listening to NIN about the same length of time, as I've been a fan since 1991 or 1992 (my freshman year of college). I'm quite jealous of your getting to meet Trent.

Add me to the NIN fans list... Maybe it was the time, the feelings of the music, but Broken and PHM are at the top for me. Not to say that the other albums aren't amazing. Think I'll pull out DS for my drive home today... Good thread. Thanks for the NIN update.
