I never post, I'll probably get trolled, but wanted your opinions. Does DMB being eligible for nomination into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018 matter to any of you?

I've read several articles with a majority of them saying the band won't even be considered next year. One site has them being inducted in 2031.

Only Rolling Stone seems to think there won't any issues.

I mean, I won't throw a tantrum like I'm sure a lot of people will if they don't get in. But man, I'll be excited when they do. It's an entertainment HOF. I hold it in the same regard as WWE's HOF.

Obviously I'm biased, but I think they should be a no brainer, 1st ballot HOF group.

If they were to go in on First Ballot that would be Dec of 2018 when they decide on the 2019 class correct?

Nominees are released in April 2018, the selection is in October and ceremony is April 2019.

Yes, I think they should get in obviously. Won't be shocked at all if they aren't first ballot but it shouldn't take until anywhere near 2031 like mentioned. My goodness, the facebook groups are going to be a mess if they don't make it first ballot.

I don't think you're going to get trolled for posting your question, although it was framed a little oddly. But if you came here for some reassurance because the majority of what you read says DMB won't even be considered, I don't think the naysayer links you posted hold all that much weight.

One is an internet forum where half of the thread posters seem to hate DMB. I doubt any of them hold any authority over the R&R HOF inductions so I don't know that their opinions matter that much. (sort of like our opinions...)

One is some sort of voting/ranking system website with almanac like info on the HOF. It ranks DMB at #393 in a list of artists. Note that the list includes bands and musicians who have already been inducted so I'm not even sure I understand the point of their ranking system. The vote that sets the band as being inducted in 2031 appears to be based off of votes on this particular website in 2011. Popular votes don't matter as much as one would think. You also have an article from 2014 which basically identifies DMB's greatest downfall as being categorized as a jam band and states "being the most successful jam band of your generation is like winning a bunch of championships in the Canadian Football League." Well alright, I guess, tell that to 1994 HOF inductee, The Grateful Dead.

Then you have your positive link, Rolling Stone, which is the most recent link that you posted. They seem to think DMB is a lock. I'm good with that.

Almost every artist deserving of induction before DMB has kinda been already inducted. So I think 2-3 years after they become eligible they get in. Would be pleasantly surprised if they're a 1st ballot induction.

Those were the only articles I found with DMB being named in any facet. All the current ones don't even mention the bands name.
