Re: Guster Fans Thread

seems like a lot of work to set up a 25th anniversary photo exhibit for one night. oh, what's that? the night prior and the night after are both free according to the calendar of events at the beacon. hmm

wouldn't be surprised to see saturday added

well that sucked ass. i was on to get tickets at 9am on the dot and the only seats in orchestra coming up had "obstructed view" on them. by the time i figured out that it really wasnt an obstructed view (just the soundboard), they were sold out.

i had really good seats like row N center or something and I threw them back hoping to get better. whoops. i'm in the lower balcony just off center in the second row. i think. i'll take it. whatever, i'm there and it's the beacon. such an intimate venue anyways!

    V. i called their box office and she said the only "obstruction" is the sound board. Ive been there before and i dont consider that an obstruction. especially since its stadium seating.

ah fuck, wish i knew that. i never sat that far back in the orchestra at the beacon. wish i just grabbed those tickets i initially had. i don't think they were allocated much of the center orchestra for the presale.

I'll join in some Guster talk! Wish I could make the shows. I've been a fan for 15 years and just saw them for the first time back in June. What a fun band/show. It was a really cool intimate outdoor venue in Lowell, MA. Pretty sure my concert going is over for the year though. I saw DMB in Mansfield, Guster the next night, DMB in NH, Pearl Jam, DMB at the Gorge and then Bruce last night at Foxboro. However, I did not pay for some of those shows. Some were gifts and I fell into the Bruce tickets yesterday. Two free tickets on the field.

Next opportunity I get to see Guster, I'll be on it. Had a blast seeing them.

i think they have one more studio album in them (2 at the most), so when that happens, expect a bigger tour. the fact that the email they sent out made mentioned of possibly new songs is a good start

Only one or two more albums? They're pretty young guys. early to mid 40s. I would think they have a solid track ahead of them.

I saw this pop up last night but I'm leaving for vacation that day.

I saw them last year in Lowell at a small little amphitheater downtown and they put on such a great show. I've been listening to them since 2000, so it was kind of crazy I was just getting to see them. Just a fun band. It was a really small venue so it was cool to see a fairly big band in such a small setting and relaxed atmosphere. They kept teasing the crowd for sitting the whole show. It's a type of venue where people come and set up their lawn chairs and just chill out. So the band went out to the crowd and snagged some lawn chairs, brought them on stage and made up a song on the fly while kicking back. It was great.

probably my favorite song of theirs

i admittedly haven't kept up with Guster in recent years. i was kinda let down by Easy Wonderful after what I think was their best studio effort in Ganging Up on the Sun.

How is Evermotion as an album, worth checking out?

thats funny, i thought Ganging was one of their "worst" studio efforts. I liked easy wonderful beacuse it was really all about them as a band - they produced the whole thing. which was a nice change.

Evermotion is decent. not my favorite, but it plays well live, i must say. def check it out..its a pretty big shift from their usual sound. maybe that's why i didnt like it.

    to me it goes:

    Lost and Gone Forever
    Keep It Together
    Goldfly
    Easy Wonderful
    Ganging/Evermotion
    Parachute

to me, Ganging sounds....mature, for lack of a better term. i listen to it and hear a band who has been playing together for a while and finally put all the pieces together, from a musical and production standpoint. the releases prior to that are, to my ears, not as developed. i still love em, but Ganging is a culmination, and then Easy Wonderful fell off a bit in terms of songwriting.

    but hey art is subjective

    i'll check out Evermotion

Lost and Gone forever will always be my favorite. I really enjoy parachute, goldfly , and keep it together but haven't listened to the new albums as much unfortunately.

Lost and Gone is the best for sure!

Loved seeing the Lost and Gone show last year in LA.

After that I would put Goldfly.

All the other ones are fine as well. I really wish they would tour a bit more....not sure how often they come to Florida though.
